You missed the point.

20 people save up large amounts of money for an auction, but only ONE gets to spend that money. This leaves 19 more players with craploads of money that they probably wont spend until they win an auction themselves. The money coming in would be greater than the money going out, and soon, everything is worth 5 mil again.

I guess as long as the idea behind the auctions isn't to remove money from the economy, then you're not doing anything wrong according to your goals...but previous auctions were actually designed to remove money and ended up doing the opposite.
