May be they could be made different or we could add new ones: once planted they are blinking slightly each 5 seconds (visible for people who keep care), still explode like right now when you walk on them, but they don't explode when you throw a grenade on them: you must defuse them with a special skill and that takes a few seconds. Also exploded mines would show a smoke cloud like gas grenades, a small caldera which blocks for a few moments and then hurts for a few moments when walking over it (like lava).

just a point, if proxmines took 5 seconds to diffuse, and couldnt be exploded by grenades, i forsee 2 problems with this, 100 proxmines have been laid (hypothetically) thats 500 seconds to difuse each one, in which time you would proberly be attacked and ran into one of these mines. 2 you would have to get pretty close to difuse the mine right? to do that would require you having to get close to the mine without it exploding, which kind of defeats the point of a proximity mine.
the flashing light sounds good for zone (even tho putting a flashing light over a proxmine irl would be odd, but this is zone, where cakes freeze people) but maybe to diffuse a grenades, there could be an item buyable from zone shop, like an EMP blast, which does no damage to players but diffuses mines and freezes vehicles.
