they can reset tomorrow if they wanted to. it'd be an extremely dumb idea though. they need to fix the economy first. economy is first priority. reset without fixing the economy and you're back to square 1. they need to spend a lot of time on this. the economy starts off pretty good at the beginning of a reset, but ALWAYS goes downhill after a while (it only takes a few months before the economy is in a **** hole again) if they reset and their economic plans don't work, then again, back to square 1.
they also need to create a lot of new content. technically they don't have to, but why wouldn't they? who in their right mind thinks era doesn't need new stuff? seriously, come on now. you can always reset and offer new content later, but those types of promises have always seem to be let down in the past. either way you're making players wait no matter what time you decide to release new content, so might as well get it done while you can utilize the dev server space.
looking at the current staff lineup i don't think they can get anything major done in a decent amount of time. i don't doubt that they can get it done, it's just going to take a while.
