I think that a better solution would be if the sky would rain barrels down (Only ones that explode, no slimes). People would have to dodge the barrels and stay alive, and the good thing is that barrels aren't overly powerful so if you misjudge something once, you don't instantly die and have to wait for the next round to begin.
