Yes but isn't it a bit of a strategy if they place mines or even barrels for that reason?
Placing mines is a precaution to kill anyone who dare try to run away.
If we can't place barrels, most players will just roll barrels so the barrel will poison you if you try to get in. Most Zone players would find a way to work around this if it was added.
