I say we can make teams on that planet. On WoW (I know bad reference but bear with me) for arena matches you can choose between going in on your own and getting a random partner, this match is fun match of coarse. For ranked match you have to have a party of 2 for a 2v2 match 3 for a 3v3 match and 5 for a 5v5 match.
In order to participate in these ranked matches you need a guild.

2v2 Guild Example:
Player A makes a 2v2 guild <guild A> for ranked matches. Player A invites Player B to join his 2v2 guild. Player B accepts. Player A and Player B both get ranked together and neither can enter a ranked match without the other one. Player A and Player B can't join any other 2v2 ranked guilds but can join Player C's 3v3 Guild and Player F's 5v5 guild. If Player A is in Player F's and his own guild then he can't join any other 5v5 guilds or 2v2 guilds but can still join a 3v3 guild. The only way to disband a guild is for the (majority in 3v3 and 5v5 case) players to say disband at the ranked match making HQ.

For every match a guild wins they could get X amount of Grelats and save up for something in the shop. (only p2ps can join guilds.)
