trevor987 is on a distinguished road
Unfortunately there's not really multiple ways to make sidewalks, or bricks, or wooden floor panels, or chairs. Sure, there can be different colors, but that's pretty much where the distinction ends.

Why modern? There's already Era.
Why classic? There's already UN.
Why future? There's already Zone.
Why sort-of medieval-ish? There's already Kingdoms.
Why heavy RPG? There's already Zodiac.

Why why why? Because people want to make their own servers that are, quite possibly, very similar to another server, but also, in their own respects, quite different in some aspect(s) of gameplay.

I think all the people posing arguments about Era mimics are overlooking the fact that it's not very easy to portray a modern city in different ways... A city is a city, and it doesn't change in the modern theme, only if you push to future or past. Also, why don't you call things UN clones, or Zodiac clones, or Kingdoms clones?

Not trying to flame anyone, but I just think that the whole "Era clone lulz" thing is getting really annoying and people also need to realize that competition means improvement. If Era controls the modern server department, it's like Microsoft controlling OSes: the final product doesn't have to be that great, because it's the ONLY product (of course there's Linux and Mac, of which I'm a strong supporter of Linux, but Windows really does have the most support). But if another OS came along and gained the same % market share as Windows, there'd be a big fight for features. Look at IE and Firefox.
