Maybe because his friend doesn't have PayPal? I'm guessing that is the case. He could PayByCash, but I did that for my account when it was new... took forever, and you find yourself asking
"It's been 5 days, has my money been lost/stolen?"
Which is a real pain in the arse. My brother got PayPal and he paid for one of my other accounts accidentally while he was testing out his PayPal useage last year and didn't realise how far he went in the steps
