The problem with OpenGL on Windows is that it is less supported by graphic cards vendors, cards like S3 have ok DirectX support but none or very bad OpenGL support. Also Graal is taking much less Gfx resources in DirectX mode. The next Graal version will take less resources with both DirectX and OpenGL though.
The advantage with OpenGL is that it isn't a crappy API which is rewritten each year, and is much more reliable (if supported by the graphics card).
If there are gradiency problems then it is using 16 bit color resolution, that should look the same in DirectX and OpenGL though. Do you mean OpenGL in fullscreen has gradiency problems? |
