This is my non-flaming advice.
Learn to develop competently in at least one area. I know level making isn't difficult at all so why not begin there? As a server manager you can't just delegate the tasks to your staff or they will have no respect for or motivation to help you. Think of it in terms of a company - the manager must do work other than telling others what needs to be done. Managers need to take part in the same or similar work to those working under them while knowing at least something about what those people do.
In other words if you want people to work for you and actually get things done, you need to show you're willing and able to do it too. People may be giving you the advice in the wrong way, but they're still giving you the right advice. You need to take the time, get familiar with things and come up with your own ideas before starting on server-building. |
