It cant be ruined further. You would just have to put a stronger limit on enchanting weapons.
The hell, who really need diamonds? Its just for enchanting weapons. I cant imagine that people need 500 diamonds, why should them be currency?
Plats should just get an increased worth, by a money-reset or anything.
