Hmm, I might also be working on a level editor of sorts, but I'm using Qt for the interface so that I can compile it cross platform (Windows, Linux and OSX) and still have it look like a native application. It has some interesting new features too. I guess I don't want to give away too much in case I get bogged down by other commitments and can't finish it for a long time, though if people are interested they can ask me about it in-game.
In regard to the interface layout of a level editor, I prefer to have each level open in a separate tab. Having lots of small windows can make an interface seem cluttered to me, though each to their own I guess. It's not that easy to make an interface that sits well though, particularly something like this where you have a large graphical pane, but also need a reasonable amount of area to display the tile selector. |
