There's been a "k-mode" suggested which would be enabled during a war - everyone would have equal stats regardless of equipment, which I think is a nice idea.

I don't see why.
Currently AC is so high that only people with VERY high Physique levels can do damage to the average fighter - the only way to fix this would be to either make physique levelling easier, release weapons with increased WC, or lower AC.
