i hear ya on the quests.
BUT realize that otherplayers COULD come along.
so, a quest is basically:
-good npc is wronged by evil npc
-player goes on adventure/puzzle/baddy slash to set things right
-player gets reward
make sure that reward can be shown off/traded with other players.
even something as simple as the glass graal gani on classic is a good example of that. builds community through competition. other players now want this status symbol.
also a back story to the server - if you pick to live in a part of a land, then a land war can happen where the citizens battle each other for some central prize - like having control of a castle for 15 mins (like UN i think)
again, a quest - but where the conflict is in the community and the competition is over a hard to get item - in this case, status as a member of some guild or the like.
like i said before : competition, quests, community.
thats what an morpg is about. (i left off the first m becasue even at 900 players graal gets at its peak, they are spread out over like 50 different servers - so its not really massive) |
