Buddy list part I couldn't really care less whos buddy list i'm on and not on, but mine is pretty big because it's shared among 2 people (on 2 different accounts)

Or, less irritatingly, it could keep a timestamp of the last time the NPCServer had anything interesting to say and, when the NPCServer has something new to say, if new timestamp > old timestamp, pop up "Message waiting from NPCServer" or, more helpfully, pop up the message itself anyway - if NPCServer is on ignore, display the text on-screen.
