Usually the management of a playerworld doesn't just blindly accept a 'I are good script0r, lolol', and requires the person they are hiring to send them example scripts.

I don't think there would be a test suitable for determining the qualifications of the person. Programming does not require 'book-smarts', each person is good at something different. Some people might be amazing at scripting GUI-related scripts, while another person accels at the math behind complex algorithms.

You honestly believe the people who claimed to be 'masters' weren't just trying to make themselves feel special? A self-evaluation on a subject usually yields quite suprising results in-favour of the person doing the evaluation.

I really don't think the Linux Cyberjouers staff have the time to make a test that each manager of a server should make theirselves.

showimg : to create a stat bar or display text on the screen on the client based on a server-wide message, and an npc that staff may use to change the server-wide message
baddy-npc : that chases the player, deals out damage serverside to the player, accepts damage from the player, dies, and eventually respawns.
private door : a door to a playerhouse that the owner of the house may use a command to "lock" it, or allow players with specific account names to be on the entrance list.
tailor : an npc that changes the player's appearance.
sparring and nopk zones : show that you can make these npcs, however simple they are, you need to know these basics, as well as areas of a level where weapons are disabled in general and then enabled within a box.
The problem with this is, some of these concepts don't apply to certain servers, which is why it is better for the management to make their own test, that would test on things related to the server they are working for.

I think it should be up to the management to issue the tests, and decide if the person in question is applicable for the job. The A+ test that you are mimicing in this, is a hardware specification test, and has nothing to do with the programming aspect. The materials issued in that test are things that don't change, and are common to all computer systems.
