After reading the first post, and before reading other posts which probably involve and argument which could effect my opinion, I have this to say:
IMHO, people USDing is a sign of how much fun a game lacks.
The problem is the end result that everyone wants. You want to have a strong character, but don't want to spend time building him up.
Of course, if there were reasonable caps (meaning the current caps on power way to big- levels, stats, items, skills, spells, etc) to everything, it wouldn't matter. At some point, you wouldn't be able to make your character stronger. You'd be at your strongest, but so would many other people- as oppose to just the people who have time to spend countless hours "playing" to get more powerful by doing the same thing over and over (dungeons and such). This is all opposing the traditional Graal idea, where at worse, you just have to do quests that seem nearly impossible to get more hearts, and get the strongest sword/shield. At least it would be 10-20 nearly impossible quests as opposed to 700,000,000,000 boring sometimes tedious dungeons.
In fact, one can be reasonably reached in a day where as the other can't. And there'd be the quests for NPCW's which aren't really as necesary.
My point is, if you buy a graal subscription, start playing, you still have to spend hundreds more USD if you want to get into what appears to be the "real" game (the real game being what everyone is doing and playing) which is probably being at a point where you can spar and PK with the majority of players and win at least 1/2 of the time.
In the opposite idea with small power caps, you can do all this either for less cost or in less time. A good player could spend a casual 2 days- 1 to make your character as strong as possible, and the second to practice and gain skill to be able to win. |
