First off, whoever says the army is more intense, better, or more trained than the Marines is a fool.

I have friends in both, and every one of them will tell you that the Marines are the real deal.

For instance, in Iraq:

In our attempts to secure cities on the way to Baghdad, the army went around smaller cities in the desert and secured perimiters while the Marines went through the center of the city and took the camps and secured cities. Once the cities are secure, then the army sets up base and holds the ground. Marines are the front line who get the job done.

The Marines think the army is a joke, the army is the "baby sitters" they say for the Marines since they hold what the Marines take over.
