So, what, the thread should be closed because one or two people have requested it? Do not be so quick to divorce logic and opinion. If one objective of moderation is to please the users then yes, there are circumstances where this becomes a logical reason to close threads - even if it must be based on the mod's discretion. But when only a single person has made the request, and the thread has potential for further productive discussion, it would be foolish to comply.
