I'm 99% sure that Graal has servers that are run by hosting companies at least somewhere in the world, if not all of them. Perhaps the hosting company doesn't notify them ASAP, or perhaps there are timezone conflicts...
So best case senario would probably be a 6 hour wait to actually get a reason for the outtage, with no estimated time of the problem being resolved... In the long run it would probably be fixed in 24 hours anyway, and notifying everybody didn't do any good. Half the people affected probably wouldn't have even noticed due to times.
If there's a known long-term server problem there's usually a sticky in the main forums. Plus, if it weren't for people making threads asking where the servers are what would we have to do during the downtime?
