Evil Transparencies! Grrr.....
1 Attachment(s)
I decided to take a little stroll through Graal and took pictures of transparencies that have been bugging me for ever.
I know they look fine if you turn on DirectX, but I don't use DirectX because it slows down graal for me and I can't see light effects anyway. But are the transparencies ever going to be fixed for those of us who don't turn on DirectX? :( |

I'm glad you turn off the lighting effects, they're ugly and scattered EVERYWHERE. Try updating your video card drivers to the latest version. |
On the system I used before this one, I had a similar problem. Even with directx on, everything would have either a problem with transparencies or just get covered by black boxes. I never figured out how to fix it.

Wait a second... does that bomy up the upper left hand corner have HANDS?
|
That happens to me too... I think it's because when you have your screen at 1280 by 1024 pixles

I wish someone would fix it =\ Its really annoying. I would use Direct X to fix it but I move like a square every five minutes so its very inconvienent!:(

I have yet to be able to play Graal with Direct X on, simply because it lags me so badly. I want to be able to see the lightning effect once though. :(

Stefan should add where graal doesnt only support direct x, it supports Open gl...

I dont get any of that Evil Transparencies. Everything on graal is fine for me but when I have direct x on its slow I dont really care for the night and day so it doesn't matter to me

Graal always use DirectX, that checkbox in the
options window is only for enabling direct3d using the interfaces of directx7 and directx8 The light effects really make the game more interesting because things look more cooler, when we have time then we will use a special graphics SDK to support OpenGL. The main problem is to use 3D stuff on newer cards and 2D stuff on older cards, the existing 3D engines only support 3D-enabled cards, and have some more problems (no windows or such stuff in voodoo full screen mode) I don't know what the problem with the transparency is, graal uses the standard functions for setting/getting transparent colors and I have only seen problems on cards that are crappy on windows (which means they don't support the windows API like they are supposed to do) |
what kind of PCI slot video card should i get if i want to see light effects?
