Money making -_-

Let's just get straight to the point, it's always the same players playing Era, the player count is on a stand still.
Reason being is that making money is quite hard, and is only easy for the players who have been playing before and are capable of selling one of there items for 1mill+.
I mean, yesterday I logged on and apparantly the best way to make money is mining. I spent 3hours mining and I only got 3k. How am I supposed to get anywhere when most of the weapons are 100k+?

Era is a great server, and I would LOVE to play it but how can I when I can't get anything but 3000$ in 3hours?

cbk1994 06-20-2009 02:39 AM

I don't think it's near that bad. I'll try some things out a bit later and see if the payment needs to be balanced out a bit. It had to be lowered from what it was right after the "updates" because business owners would have been unable to pay their employees more than they could have gotten just selling the minerals.

Frankie 06-20-2009 02:47 AM

players have too much control over gun prices and that's why you're seeing ridiculously high prices compared to how much money you're getting from jobs. if you raise the amount of money that jobs give out, then the players are simply going to rise the prices of their items so you won't really solve anything at all.

as far as a solution to this problem, I haven't really come up with one that would 100percent fix it.

WaDaFack 06-20-2009 02:50 AM

Perhaps a money cap can solve something, no?
It's ridiculous watching players asking for 10mill for a weap *cough* shipka *cough*.

But one thing I don't get is that weapons like the Shipka, M1, Sten ETC. you can't buy but since a month or two ago, there were only like 2-3 of each released. How are there 10+ now? :O

LordSquirt 06-20-2009 02:52 AM

No one on the server has 1million cash wise. People are just stuck in the past when there was an abundance of money.

The quickest way to get money though is to know the economy and merchant your way to the top. Buy low sell high.

WaDaFack 06-20-2009 02:54 AM

Squirt, the best thing you can buy is a Ak47 if you use the job methods, how can you merchant that? People are after big-guns, like PbP, PPSH ETC.

LordSquirt 06-20-2009 03:01 AM

You know I once was a noob with nothing on the server (this was a little while ago also) and I was able to dig shells and stuff to get about 50k. Also, I worked at AM, DD, and PT and was top stocker for most of the jobs. Combined with all of that money I think it would be easy to start off with merchanting off items. However, for people not as committed I guess you can go easy and make small profits and buy and sell an item like a daewoo.

Frankie 06-20-2009 03:46 AM

get connections.

buy that AK. get good with it. join a gang and prove yourself worthy. eventually you'll be given other weapons to use. despite how small it may be it helps.

Crono 06-20-2009 03:49 AM

I liked Era 2006. :(

Rave_J 06-20-2009 04:54 AM

really if era had a reset it would help a bit but honestly the business should be tax and have bills to pay for and the gun value should be where the trade system is rescript where say a axe 150k to 200k right well u can put no more then 200k in the trade system and have each gun a var. for its worth and reads it if u go over that var. then it wont let u trade or something so say u have 50k and a p90 which var is like 80k to 100k it will let u do that but if u try to add Desert eagles in it wont let u trade i think that will help so the guns cant be profit more then what they are

Limiting the item trade system won't solve the problem, it'll just force people to drop trade or send money, which leads to scamming.

Rave_J 06-20-2009 05:01 AM

hmm didnt think about drop trade if everybody using the item trade then make it where u cant drop no more really alot of people wont care
just change it where u cant drop high value guns

CharlieM 06-20-2009 05:13 AM

Wtf work. I have 2 rare guns and I had to work my way up to where I am; and I did it in a few months don't set your sites on über rare guns, because there are cheaper ones that do the same job, helps to merchent to new/poor players also, you can turn a tidy profit buying 1 then another for duals helps also as you can get more for duals then what you spent on both

salesman 06-20-2009 05:30 AM

Making money honestly isn't that hard. You can't expect to be the richest person in just a few days. Looking at your stats, you've hardly worked at all.

In my opinion, mining is the worst job. I'd rather have a change of scenery and pick flowers or dig shells. Once you get a decent amount from working, your best bet is to merchant items...it takes some time to figure out what's worth what, but once you do, it's easy to find good deals and make some profit.

WaDaFack 06-20-2009 05:40 AM

Guns should be able to break, and the cost of fixing it relies on the Guns economic price >.>.

That's been suggested before, however, that takes a great deal of fun out of the game and would probably do more harm than good.

Nataxo 06-20-2009 07:21 AM

I'm annoyed too that basically the only way to earn big ammounts of money is through merchanting... I'm not very good at it xD

There should be other options....

Also while we're on the topic, where do people buy guns like pbp, angel, shipka, deagles and other weapons I've never seen on stores :(

  • PBP was released in the "shotgun shop" along with the Spaz-12 and PL-9.
  • Deagles used to be in a store I think (I want to say Pyro Tech with the M4, but I'm not positive).
  • Angels were a business weapon for Bounty Hunter.
  • Shipka was Mongrel Mob's gang gun.

To be honest, the majority of guns you can't find in stores are leftover from gangs (Shipka, MT, G36k, PPSH, Daewoo, etc). Which really makes me realize how stupid gang guns are as well as the decisions to just untag-lock them after a gang fails.

Donark 06-20-2009 01:24 PM

yah this would never happen but.... What if SOME how, *just imagine* era's player count was like 1500, and atleast 1000 people played a day.. Would you release the same guns or make new ones? Since almost every gun on era is discontinued they would be hella lot of money.

DarkRenji 06-20-2009 03:48 PM

Within 3 months I went from having a Ap0 to having a PBP and shipka, its not all that hard.

But you're a master in merchanting =/

BlueMelon 06-20-2009 05:03 PM

Current rare guns = High price, rare, = people quit with guns = price goes up +rarity
Release of more rare guns? = Less rare = price goes down = Balance in economy.
Auction off the guns to take out money of the economy

You cross-server traded your stuff from Zodiac to Era.. I remember my friend doing it with you too!
what r u on about?!

CharlieM 06-20-2009 07:10 PM

If you decide to release rare guns in auction everyone that has them now will USD them before the auction and then quit. You have to work to get good stuff.

Spikedude 06-20-2009 09:47 PM

Making money is hard, but like Frankie said, you need to get connections. I don't ever work for anything now. I sometimes cut trees to get like 2-3k at a time and get ammo and stuff. But I have friends who hook me up with items to use or sometimes even have.

Otherwise, businesses are the best way to make money, because if you work hard, you get promoted. And a good place for those connections.

Deagles were sold in that 1 shop that I wanna say scimps owned, but Im not sure. The shop with the ap0 gg,got turned into a motorcycle shop and is now gone lol.

I agree with amsel :D,if I didnt work for am and the only reason why I do is because my friends own it, and if I didnt work there Id be broke I wouldnt have ammo!. Ammo meant a lot to me when I was a noob :D

They are, but not on as full of a scale as they will

Aldaris 06-21-2009 07:53 AM

It's a system that is royally broke, and nothing that I can think of will fix the problem. I agree that items, as of now, are priced way too high. When people ask for "$10,000,000+ million" for a gun, they are usually referring to that amount in other items. Currently, players with guns starting from the MS won't accept direct cash for their items because it wouldn't suffice in comparison to getting more items that they can eventually sell for more items.

In my opinion, I don't know what the staff is doing. Ammo, specialty drinks, and food are all quite expensive in comparison to how much money a player can actually make without consuming too much time. I, for one, have put an end to using food / specialty drinks because it is far too pricey to consistently buy on a daily basis, but that is for another topic.

As far as the gun crisis goes, there is no true solution. Players, as Frankie suggested, have far too much control over how they price their items.

xnervNATx 06-22-2009 05:15 PM

1)money is hard to make if u plan on getting moderate guns such as famas which is like 22k now? maybe make shells sell for more?
2)a reset will always be my first opinion because most of the rich players scammed their way up there(not everyone)
3)gang guns might be a bit unfair for some persons , exemple adv holster or w/e the name is, 25 dmg and a no freeze is good but a bit unfair if u plan to spar its would be a good idea to nerf them bad
4) finally coming into business, business is a good way to make money, like someone said in this thread, make business owners pay a bill is a good idea and its might get thing a bit more fair, or my idea was to set every business selling ammo only(except pyrotech who sell explosives thing) and put a variety of shop all around era that will sell every gun in the game, and set them at a limit on each(exemple ppish : 250,000$ stock: 5
that way im sure the price will still go up BUT there wont be any duped guns everywhere.

something else got my attention too, about the house and the sewer house, if there was a bit more of them all around era(like lockers)its would have been good too, many house are stil owned by players that doesnt even play anymore, setting a bill to pay every week or two would surely balance thing, if ur bill is overdue the house would be locked and set to auction. but if the player come back and pay the auction will be closed and the house back to his own owner. all i had to say

!!!! I agree a hundred percent. !!!

Though, as Deo said some people bought their houses for a specific ammount of money, it would ne unfair if you ask them for more...

I'd suggest future houses are sold with this bill system

xnervNATx 06-22-2009 05:54 PM

ya , but if there a reset i would submit this system

Resets don't usually "fix" the problem, it just starts everything. After a few months, the same problem comes back, prices sky rocket.

The_Blue_Cracka 06-23-2009 01:55 AM

I liked Era 2003.

That was the best. . . there wasn't like 1000guns, there was only the Uzi, Handgun, AK47 and some other gun. Than when maverick opened his first shop (I think it was him), that's when things started to change >.>

Lol, Bl0nkt I remember you getting like a 500/0 kd.

Who remembers Gipset Taliban? :P

okay, so famas is 22k right now. if you increase the money output from jobs, the famas price will increase. in the end you solved nothing.

just because players scammed their way to the top does not call for a reset. if players used exploits and corrupt staff to get their way to the top, then that's a different story.

there's really no such thing as an unfair gun.

maybe a server reset but that could also lower the player count or it could go the other way also.

Era still hasn't recovered from the last reset
