Okay, no custom graphics.

Hows about at least you server people accept tilesets to combine the floor with the wall edges.

Or do you honestly think, throwing a few pots over it, does make a proper solution?

You'd have to have different variations for every type of floor tile. Seems like a lot of work.

Oh layers, where art thou???

Actually it wouldn't be a lot of work, just a lot more content. You'd need a tileset for each combo... and while that in itself is just a matter of putting an opaque in the corner times and overlaying them on the floor times, that's a lot of combo's. Not to mention aren't floor tiles varying size? from 1x1 tile, to 2x2 and even up to 5x5 and such? That means you'd never have enough corner tiles to actually match the various degrees of what exact tile will meet the wall.

RealDDc 06-08-2009 06:38 PM

Its those little things, that reverberate the professionalism of a online game management. But at least that "pot solution" is a creative one. *thumbs up*

Keep the creative work going!

There is a broken house on forest, crashes the client if you want to enter. You could slap down a unpickable book shelf infront of it.

Professional games also tend to have good layer support.

How complex can house scripts be, like say I wanted to make a GUI to control every aspect of the inside of the house like to control the particles and the radio would that be accepted as long as there isn't anything malicious in it.

Complex scripts may lag the server which doesn't comply with the rules for house uploads.

Cubes 06-08-2009 08:20 PM

Ok, by complex I mean complex for me. Just a basic gui that lets me change the colors of my particle effects and set a radio station.

Not really, only if a lot of the stuff is serverside. Otherwise, it shouldn't cause hardly any lag.

Pots are for chumps, use a stack of barrels or rocks. Then you can throw in an RP explanation for that, such as your house walls lacking the support they need to hold up the ceiling.

Yeah lets make up petty role playing excuses for all those 1001 halfway through, broken and/ or cretinously game contents.

If this rather simple thing overextends the management and administration already, there won't be anything prosperous to await in the near future.

You do realize it's really NOT that simple, right?

For a online game management, that considers themselves to be professionally enough, to charge money from the customers.

Yes that should be a simple, quick, and easy thing.

Talk to Stefan then, because Tig doesn't get paid nor is Tig the one charging you guys.

It'd be easier to allow people to have custom graphics that fixes tile-errors rather than trying to fix all the tile corners.

It's hard to fix things that people don't report.

If you go to the level where that error is at, and press F5, submit the level name to my email, the support center, or even in this thread, I can fix it, otherwise it's hard.

Tigerious is the one responsible for the server, as manager he's gotten the full control over it, that is the point of a management. He does what the owner of this "thing here", I have a hard time calling it a professional online gaming service, cant or don't want to do in his frequent absence.

So, yes, im talking to the management, since the management aswell as the administrations function contains to lead feedback on to the owner, if they are overchallenged with the task.

I don't care who gets pay'd or not, im paying and thus I can abide a, at least sort of, professionally working management.

This would be a pointer to start of, there are plenty reports, not even a small tad of those reportet ingame stumbles got anything near close to an adequate solution.

If those are worked trough, im gladly to report another list as long as those bug reports, if I see some progress of some sort.

The point is, while you might have to pay for it, Tig is doing this for free so be a little lax when you throw the whole, "I PAY FOR THIS SO IT MUST BE BETTER" because just because you pay for it doesn't make it any easier for Tig to work. I'm not one to normally 'lower' my standards, especially for a server that you have to pay for, but this is one of the few occasions where it doesn't bother me that much. Like I've explained before, it's not as simple as you people think it is. You've got multiple walls, multiple floors, and more importantly various sized floor tiles. That means even if he did go through the trouble of making different images for the different combinations, they STILL wouldn't look perfect because he'd also have to make 8 different graphics for the same floor graphic because it uses 8 tiles, and he'd have to cover every possible chance that the floor is going to touch a different part of the floor.

There are higher things on their priority list, I'm sure. GK has seen more development activity since Tig has become manager than like... the whole 4 years before he was appointed.

Don't get this wrong, I dont have a personal problem with tigarious, but hes the person in charge, as manager hes responsible. I can't have no regard about who'm being pay'd and who not. A service without customers won't do well, I guess you agree here, and so I value it high that im the paying customer, such as everyone else whos playing the gold servers above the trial phase.

I'd be happy with progress, im not asking for something perfect, but at least some sort of progress, even if it is a little progress.

In the example, with the broken tilesets, there can't be mutch worse with any progress than putting pots over the broken areas as solution. Between a perfect solution, and a solution alike this, there is a broad range.

Ain't ma dog, ain't ma sh*t? If there went things wrong previously, doesn't mean they can be overlooked now.

Edit: Side note, I also value volunteers and they'r work highly, but this doesn't mean that I have to "suffer" for the administration and even the management not being pay'd. This is more a server organization problem, but should not be sinister to the customers of this service.

pig132 06-09-2009 02:45 AM

are you guys seriously complaining about those little half-tiled corners in houses? haha wow

No, we aren't all complaining about it, in fact it is only me who does want to see progress.

Once again it's me fronting the whole lot, seeing as the first bad reputations arrived. In game you hear everyday people complaining to each other, this is broken, here is something wrong, why doesn't this work, whys it not balanced, why are there never events, can we have free choclate chips...?

And when it comes to stand up, and open to mouth, speaking to the administration and management, the guts shrink down to peanut size.

Instead they give anonymous comments like these:

House Scripts 06-09-2009 02:39 AM Tig volunteers, stop acting like a ***got.

House Scripts 06-09-2009 01:47 AM Your ignorance shines through once again.

And back in the game, talking to each others, they complain about above.

We value you as a paying customer, but at the same time, you must try to be reasonable. You had the appropriate trial phase to decide if you wanted to play the game further, and you decided to do so, we never made any promise to you that we would continue to update the server or even attempt to fix minor bugs (yet we do it anyways), and you continued to upgrade your subscription.

We try very hard to keep Graal Kingdoms in a good state but it's not always easy to fix everything right away, especially since a lot of it goes unnoticed by the administration.

I don't know if you realize this, but Graal Kingdoms is not my only responsibility, so I rely on the players to report any bugs whenever they can. Directing me to a bugs forum does not answer the questions I presented to you in order to fix the problem that you're describing, so the vicious circle will continue unless you're able to provide the proper information needed in order to fix the problem. Just like if you tell a computer tech "my computer is not working" they cannot diagnose a problem unless you describe which part of your computer is not working.

I have doubts that you're doing any "suffering" as you described, everyone on the game is treated equally and everyone has to deal with the problems equally. As Dusty said, little bugs are not our highest priority, especially with a development team consisting of mostly 1-3 volunteer developers.

When there are bigger issues at hand, it would be irresponsible of me to concentrate on the small bugs and graphical errors that can easily be addressed at a later date.

RealDDc 06-09-2009 04:14 AM

Since this thread here went far overboard and kind out of control already, according to the threads topic, far further than even I for myself would have wanted this to go, I'll approach on your whole post.

But for anything afterwards, there might be better solutions than flooding this thread, whereof im not totally noninvolved and chaste.

I don't bestead on a 60-day-money-back-guarantuee, nor do I plan to leave the game at this point. And overall, I've played games that did even worse.

But the subscription and payment for a service of any kind, does include a counterperformance, for a online game this includes to my understanding of online gaming services a enjoyable and arable gaming sphere.

If I knew, there would be some sort of progress, I'll glady give in some own contribution, by handing over details about unfinished or broken things ingame. And I've tripped over a lot of these things, and inside the community most are well known. I dont expect those things to be fixed over night, hell no, but somewhere and somewhen there needs to be the end of the rat tail, and if it ain't started at one point, there wont be any further progress. And the cry for progress gets louder every day, at least inside the game.

So if desired, I'll send you the next day a list of these half way done or broken things with appropriate details.

That bug forums purpose is? Players report the abnormalitys, and if needed they could be asked for more specific details about it, to find a solution, or to fix the bug, if it is a bug. More on, reply above.

Little bugs at least show some progress, they are fastely fixed, and a lot of small bugs cause a gigantic problem. Especially if all you continuously trampling over half finished things, that don't have any purpose, broken things, and misbalanced things. You state there that the development team is shorthanded, so this would be the best moment to care about things that you might declare as minor, yet you are trying to bring something huge on the feet with a understaffed team, how does this make sense? Don't want to talk it bad, but a major progress, with a undermanned group, sounds like a ton more of small bugs.

As I see it, those big issues, are a result of those many little "to-do" things. Less the graphical problems, but a lot of not working or not properly working components, which causes a misbalance, and make the customers unhappy.

I might be an total ass by times, but the least thing I am is being irrationally or unreasonable.

This is not a 'little bug' by any means though. It's a pretty damn big thing to fix, with little purpose other than looking a little prettier.

MajinDragon 06-09-2009 06:36 AM

Dennis you're being difficult:mad:.
We all ofcourse want progress to be made, and the little things fixed, but this one, although i don't understand much about dev, i do know it would need quite some time and support to get every variant sorted. GK atm doesn't have much of that, so it's good to have patience in mind...
