The idea about a total reset of stats

Some people think it's a bad idea. I first thought what the **** no way. But thinking about it I think it is a good idea because classic is a idling place and people usualy have no reason to spar, pk, whatever. A total rest might give people a reason to do stuff again, re-experience stats gaining and so on. A total reset would probably suck if you do it with nothing new added, it would need a great deal of planning to make classic enjoyable again in the process.

Perhaps there can be some house with the old stats saved in, so you can watch whatever you used to have.

And if you say "I play bc of my stats", its just lame. Rather have fun than looking at stats.

Remove kills, deaths, and hours?

I really can't see what difference a full stats reset (if you mean kills/deaths/online time included) would make other than making people angry.

I do like the idea of a "rest" though.

Yes that's what I mean.

I remember from ages ago that one of the fun parts where to gain good stats, now when I had the same stats for this long it's just boring and everyone just sits doing nothing.

I wouldn't get angry, and I don't see that many cares about their stats anymore. People often ask for how it used to be, and gaining stats used to be a part of classic that doesn't exist anymore. A fresh start with a total rest, a lot of new stuff and fun things with compitions to gain some amount of stats would be fun.

And doing a back up wouldnt be impossible if it fails totaly.

maximus_asinus 05-05-2009 05:20 PM

I would probably play less if my stats were reset. As sad as it is to say, I've been playing for about a decade now, and all I have left are my stats. :(

At first I disregarded the idea because of the loss, but on second thought I don't think I care about them at all. I'd even request a reset on my hours if I could, because the amount of time I've spent on Classic is pretty embarrassing. The only statistic that would probably annoy me if reset would be my kills and deaths, but it's something to build up I guess. Not voting for either way though because I don't mind.

BlackSolider 05-05-2009 05:33 PM

I voted no simply because I don't like the idea of instantly discarding everything that I did over the past 4 years, even if it was on graal.

Thats the sad part. People dont play, just come along for the stats and the character. Why not see it was a opportunity to play again.

It can be stored in some kind of house. Would probably be the same thing as seeing your profile. It's not like its "gone".

Mighty 05-05-2009 05:47 PM

I'd support a full reset down to 3 hp but that's probably never going to happend.

Gralats and tickets should've been reset already a long time ago.

DarkCloud_PK 05-05-2009 05:48 PM

I really don't see the point in reseting k/d/online time, unless theres really some special case of a specific person wanting to start anew, with the reason not being "bc my kills over deaths sux".

As for other things, I know for a fact gralats will have to be reset eventually, so you can brace yourself for that one that it happens, assuming you didn't expect it eventually to happen. Between corrupt admins giving themselves money, the infamous black gralat quest, and Ibo's rupee snake, the gralat community has become so widely inflated to a point comparable how Germany was at one point where a wheelbarrow full of cold hard cash couldnt buy you a half loaf of bread.

As for tickets, if this raffle doesn't work out, and another method outside of the card game can be used to burn off the accumulating tickets, it'll have to be reset as well, plus ctf madness really does not help the ticket fiasco.

I don't PK/spar because I don't want to, not because there is nobody to PK/spar. I would continue to do exactly what I do now, which is log on and chat for an hour or two then log off. Only thing that would get me playing regularly is if there were a lot more quests to complete.

There's a lot of points. Why would i kill 5k more people? There's no reason. Make it a reason and I'll do it. A total reset will make graal fun again, there will be a point of doing stuff, if it will be made in a fun way with new stuff. Not just sitting back and feeling good as it is (with the stats).

if they plan on a tickets reset i want to know wtf im gonna get for my 711 , i did not win them to see them get deleted just because a ******* is crying to them(not u)

DarkCloud_PK 05-05-2009 06:15 PM

Sure, if its a reset on one person for a legit reason, I don't mind it, and I could probably ask the management to see if it could be done on a case by case basis.

What I don't want is.
1.People to do it because their k/d suck.
2.A forced reset on everyone.

BlackSolider 05-05-2009 06:20 PM

A reset wouldn't make me want to kill people again just to make my K/D ratio look good. I don't pk b/c its pointless, and too many people run and ****. I spar during events and occasionally at other times, but not many people sit in exos all day.

IMO a reset doesn't help things, nor make people want to kill again. If people aren't pking, its b/c theres no point; not because their numbers are so high. Setting the numbers back to 0 doesn't give it a point, it just gives a few people a reason to bash the s key all day long.

xnervNATx 05-05-2009 06:23 PM

they refused to put my deaths at 300000

Thats how it is now, and you base how it is now on how it's going to be. That's the sad part, that you don't see the opportunity it can give to actually have a living climate of things to do and having the stats gaining idea of classic back.

BlackSolider 05-05-2009 07:34 PM

There's not enough people online to pk or spar with constantly to make people want to increase their stats. If people were always sparring, people would have more incentive to compete and spar with others. If guilds were more active, guild wars (which are essentially team pk fests) would happen much more often.

The problem isn't how far away our stats are from 0; the problem is there's not enough people online to make people care about changing their stats. If we did a full stat reset right now, we're still stuck with the lack luster playercount we have. Would sparring/pking increase for a few weeks? Probably. Would it be a long term solution to our problems? No.

A stat reset doesn't solve our problems, which you don't seem to get. You don't simply reset everything unless it absolutely has to be done to fix things (card game, gelats, and tickets are examples of things that might have to have one b/c they are probably unfixable otherwise,) even if it does give a temporary boost. Think long term, not short term. Stats are the least of our problems right now.

MysticX2X 05-05-2009 10:02 PM

I'm down for a reset on gralats/tickets/items/stats(quests, bowling, etc.) but not down for kills/deaths/hours reset.

The only thing that is keeping this server from a ticket reset is a select few people complaining their ass off because they want to keep their high amount of tickets they never will use anyways.

Laura, I dont know why youre so attached to your tickets. If tickets were reset, there could be a lot more potential uses for it so dont get your hopes up that your ticket collecting will pay off when you can buy some one of a kind NPC.

BlackSolider 05-05-2009 11:04 PM

The issue is that Laura, and others, don't want all their efforts to suddenly disappear and be a waste.

MysticX2X 05-05-2009 11:06 PM

God forbid you lose all your efforts on an unpopular online game.

BlackSolider 05-06-2009 12:23 AM

Says the person who disliked the idea of a kills/deaths/hours reset.

MysticX2X 05-06-2009 02:04 AM

Because those don't need to be deleted though I dont care for my hours.

Granted if kills/deaths/hours needed to be reset, then go ahead.

BlackSolider 05-06-2009 02:40 AM

The fact that tickets need to be reset doesn't matter to some people. They just don't want to see their efforts wasted, even if it was on graal.

MysticX2X 05-06-2009 03:15 AM

A ticket reset is inevitable though Higher staff are trying to make it evitable by scripting tons of more ****. If these ticket hoarders want to see a change, they should know what to give up, even if it was on graal.

Hell, what am i saying. Who gives a flip when it's graal? It's not like half of the tickets took any effort to get if you were a classic regular.

The ticket hoarders also earned their tickets.

Your stats will be stored in some house for some people to do evil stuff while looking at them.

That's how it is now, and you still base how it is now on how it's going to be. A total reset, with a lot of new fun stuff and compititions might just do the opposite: make people play.

It's the least of the problems for you bc you don't see the opportunity it can give.

Stats gaining has become something that's not happening on classic, it used to be something everyone was doing in some way. Getting stats gaining back is something i wish for.

Yes, they earned it. But nothing much can be done with tickets without a reset. Theres like 5 or so (probably more) with over 400 tickets. Just what can possibly be done with tickets like that? The lottery is not working out so far with taking tickets out of the ones it was meant to take from.

You don't do something as drastic as a total reset unless it is absolutely necessary. Right now sparring and pking on classic don't mean a damn thing b/c theres not enough people online to constantly do either. A reset doesn't change that. Get that through your head.

I blame you and other careless GC.

tht wont get people pking on classic, hit detection change would have more effect. if you think erasing what little people have left on classic is a good idea, youre sadly mistaken. but hey, go for it.

EclipsedAngel 05-07-2009 11:48 PM

let's reset silvercrank's hours.

Remonq 05-07-2009 11:50 PM

^^^ best idea ever

DutchGuy 05-08-2009 12:09 PM

im against this idea. Simply because guilds have always recruited people by their stats.
So now everyone has to leave their guild because they wouldn't meet the requirements no more.
Also people have worked hard to get the stats they have now.
Leave it as it is. You can't take the last good thing about classic away.
