it's not that easy. you need to edit the sounds so that it doesn't sound like **** when you repeat them very fast, aka sustained note. the flute sounds are made for this, the other instruments are not. whoever "made" these instrument sounds I'm pretty sure they just took them from FL studios which also doesn't have sustained notes for many of the emulated instruments, so obviously with these sounds it can't be done on Graal either unless you edit every single one, and there's a lot.

I feel like most of the sounds were very half-assed, and it's more obvious in some than others.
The electric guitar, for example. It's not as hard as you people make it sound, I've got programs and the equipment to do it so sustains would work, but then you have to ask yourself the most important question: Is it really worth it? These things are just toys, forget about trying to make them just like real instruments. You never will be able to, and it's a gigantic waste of time both for the developers and the people using the instruments. This sounds tired and cliche, but seriously: Learn/play an instrument in real life. Broaden your horizons, nobody gives a damn if you can play Song of Storms on a ****ty 2D game with ****ty instruments. Go learn/do something of worth. |
Thought I'd bump this because Omni and I are working on making this possible with a few compatible instruments.
So far the Contra Bass, Pan Flute, and Keyboard have can play notes for as long as you hold the key down. A few other updates that weren't ever really announced.... -Some instruments have a spacebar function to add certain effects: Bass (slap bass) Piano (sustained notes) Electric Guitar (harmonics) -You can also play 5 note chords instead of only 3 notes. |
instruments are cool and all, but I think after this update you should start focusing on other things. not saying it's bad that you're adding more features to the instruments, but I find it kind of ridiculous that you release instruments, then weeks later with no updates you go back and do more work on the instruments. take a break from it already..

You can probably expect it in 2-3 weeks or so. I've been adding the small updates all day today. |
