My auction rules
 

Just to let everyone read my rules so you don't beeyatch at me and say that I have no power to do this

Decimal Bids:
These bids will equal the total gralat amount on a player
Bidding on your own items:
If the person that is auctioning off his/her item bids on it and the auction ends with the persons the winner he/she must give me 1/4 of the total bid amount.
Backing down from auctions:
If the owner of the items backs down from a auction for whatever reason, Owner must give me 5 gralats, however he/she cannot I will take the item.

I wish these would be offical for all Auctions

How about decimal bids are rounded up to the nearest whole gralat. The part of you getting 1/4 of the money doesn't sound right. If the owner backs down they must give you 5 gralats and can't keep their item? Giving you 5 gralats and they get the to keep the item sounds better.

why should this be honored as acceptable?

You can only bid up to 2 decimals ;)
Anyways, if you have the money and don't like the people bidding (too low), why can't you bid on your own so you do not have to give your item up for a mere 30 gralats? Why whould you get 1/4 of the bid amount because the person bid on their own item? It's completley ludacris. I guess the third point could work...
Oh, don't expect to be able to enforce these because you can't jail people as far as I know. Even if a Police officer were there, he'd have to have RC to transfer the gralats to you. You cannot force someone to give you money or items without RC.

If it goes to the nearest gralat, what if someone bids all of their money (eg:50) and someone who has more but will only spend 50 says 50.0001 that would be like cheating the other person out of it because the pay would be the same amount. THAT is why decimal bids should not be rounded to the nearest gralat.

If you would have read more clearly I said "rounded up", yes that means someone who bids 50.01 would have to pay 51.

Auctions go like this
person who wants to auction their item must give me it
then winning bidder comes up and pays me and gets the items
then I let him down and bring up the person who was auctioning them items - Rebel's way (which we use now I and must say it rather a sound way)

I seen decimal bids like 12.9000004124

And why should I let these people off easy?
As for the bidding on own item its like rule #3 but even more st00pid

So let's say you were auctioning a bomy, you already have 3000 gralats. The current bid is 235. You would let it go? Of course not, you would bid higher to keep you bomy, don't tell me you wouldn't. And with decimal bids, your cannot see a bid of "12.9000004124". The decimals can only go to the hundreths, so it would show 12.9(0).

2 of those 3 rules are against the person auctioning his or her item. The one about decimals wouldn't work because someone bids 14.5, that represents the total gralat amount of the player (lets say 80)? It doesn't, someone could easily bid 15. Last I checked, 80 was higher than 15.

80 is higher but having those bids should be allowed so I making decimal bids put a major dent in your gralat count

You can't enforce that they bid their entire gralat count after they bid a decimal. "BID 80 OR I"LL GET RILL MAD!@"

Lets say someone has 600 gralats, they are bidding on a hat. They bid 35.5. Another bids 36 and the auction keeps going until 105. The one person stops bidding and the person who bid the 35.5 who has just bid 105 can't win? The person who's auctioning the item would be kind of mad because of your rules.

The reason I made it all the bidders money is to scare them from bidding decimals but your logic has its down side

You've got a point...just have someone fix the auction NPC so it doesn't accept decimals. ;)
There is also a problem with saying any numbers in the auction house. I was talking and said 200 in a sentance and the NPC thought I bid.

I guess you could also say that yes, the person who bid 33 should get the item because you shouldn't be bidding decimals anyway.

Basically stefan needs to fix two things:

Make bids called by saying:
bid <ammount>
instead of just <ammount>

And also make it so you can't bid with decimals.

It wouldn't be all that hard to check if there is a "." in the text.
And you could just use string parsing to check it all out.

About the backing down from auctions.. this shouldn't be allowed.. if you are a smart person, you would check the people in the crowd to see how much money they have, and ask around to see if anyone wants the item you are putting up for auction. I say if the person backs out, the auctioneer just sells the item and donates the money to the events team or something.

I don't think however, that the auctioneer should keep any of the money/items taken. They should earn some money in tips but NOT HASSLE THE PLAYERS. What I mean is half the time after an auction you see the auctioneers say "You gonna give a tip?" or something..
