New GPs (Again)

After the GP team faced some unexpected departures the GP team was once again hiring new candidates. Gabriel decided to stay with FAQ Admin, Masa quit, and I myself got promoted. Therefore, the GP team was looking for new potential recruits to help contribute to the server. The hirings were based on the previous application.

New GPs are:
-alexOWNZu:PreVail
-lardy227:Crackwizar
-Ashy:*Ashy

Congratulations.

They're old applicants since when the last applications where published.

I think Squirt decided to hire these 3 potential options instead of doing another application. (since the last hirings where just a few days ago)

If he isn't GP anymore but just a normal FAQ Admin, Why does he have a RC...?

Oh man :'( I feel so shafted :'( Ocelot moved heaven and earth just to get me the Staff Stick when I was FAQ Admin, but that was it. Having an RC was a no-no. I could have ... I dunno, put stuff in "temp" or something. Fun and stuff.

But seriously, I agree, FAQ Admin doesn't need RC in my opinion. People haven't busted their... parts... to make tag adders just so the FAQ Admin can just use filebrowser as the sole purpose of their RC rights. Think realistically.

fragman85 03-19-2009 07:02 PM

TSAdmin what did you expect?
Deophite - Manager
Squirt - Admin

Uh..

FAQ Admin has always had RC on pretty much every other server except Era. You act like it is out of the ordinary, but Era is the one that is out of the ordinary for never giving it to them. Where I come from Every Department Chief has been given a RC. I fail to see what the problem is and why this is such a big deal.

Era isn't "every other server." you log on UN I wouldn't be surprised if the damn ETs had an RC. there's no reason why an FAQ admin needs an RC to do their job. they hire / fire FAQs and watch over their team to make sure they're doing the job right. you're telling me Gabriel can't do that without an RC? he has before along with many FAQ admins in the past.

hell, you guys even have GPs that don't have an RC (from what I know) yet you believe the FAQ admin should have it over them.

salesman 03-19-2009 10:22 PM

Wow, I thought Gabriel was also a GP, I didn't know he gave it up...

Can anyone list one thing that the FAQ Admin needs to do that requires RC?

fragman85 03-19-2009 10:25 PM

Of course the FAQ Admin needs to be able to have a chat with his buddies and well instead of PMs they decided to use RC.

:]

Nataxo 03-19-2009 10:28 PM

I suppose FAQ Admin could require RC to know exactly about whats going on on Era. (to answer questions more accuratly?)

if you mean development wise, I doubt they'll even let him give info on future development since they want to keep everything a secret.

that's still a dumb excuse. it's really none of the FAQ admin's business to know what's going on with development since he isn't apart of the dev team.

He has access to FAQ tags and can edit them when he hires/fires or at request of other FAQ's. He can also monitor their staff time. FAQ Admin also has access to most logs in case he needs them.

Like I said, historically all Chiefs have had RC. However, I didn't make it like this to be like "every other server". More than often the a Department Admin is someone who has worked their way up and can be trusted. It's just nice to have someone with rights equivalent to a GP around just in case.

As for the new GP's not having RC, well that is an old Era rule that I guess EC made up. Personally I think all GP's should have RC but I am leaving that decision up to Zeus or Squirt.

nothing a level NPC can't do.

why would he need them as an FAQ admin?

historically on Era, not all "chiefs" had an RC. I can't say I ever remember seeing an FAQ admin on Era with RC before now. and if there was, there was probably just as much as a commotion about it back then compared to now.

this is exactly how I see it:
  • get FAQ; check
  • get FAQ admin; check
  • get GP; check
  • resign from GP because I can't handle it; check
  • beg to keep RC so I can be an FAQ admin with an RC + GP powers without actually having the responsibilities as a GP, thus getting a free ride!; check!

EC never made that rule. big 'ol HoudiniMan started that BS.

I've seen this happen countless times. developers getting a job on RC then a few weeks later they resign from their development job because they are too lazy to work, but then ask to be a GP so they can sit around and play with tools all day. this case is a little different but you should get the point.

he quit GP but he's still a GP? why would he step down from a position if he still wants to handle GP issues? when he stepped down that basically means he doesn't want to do it anymore, so why let him keep RC with the powers?

he wants the power without the responsibility.

Well some people where getting upset that he had 2 staff positions I guess, Why does it matter though?
