Lockers...

Hoay..

I think Era should get more Lockers, I have a **** load of items in my house.. I dont want to store them in my hotel room cuz i dont trust it at all. And also, i can't get a fking locker unless i pay like 10k for one which is for sale..

So now i wanna sell my SR house but i can't since there aren't ANY lockers free..

TheMaestro 02-24-2009 05:30 PM

No.

Frankie 02-24-2009 05:54 PM

conserve your inventory space. you don't need that many items. you cant plaster locker buildings all over era because there isn't enough for everyone.

look at weapons. there's only so many of each rare weapon. just because people complain they can't get a chance to buy one doesn't mean the staff should release more.

maximus_asinus 02-24-2009 07:12 PM

I haven't set foot on Era since the second reset, so I'm not entirely sure on how the locker system works. From what I've gathered, a locker is used to store items when your inventory is full. A locker costs money, and isn't available to all players. If this is how it works, then you've designed something that will be controlled by the elitist of Era. Simple storage should be accessible to all players (maybe with an optional feature to store more items at a higher cost), regardless of placement in Era's hierarchy. Apparently Era isn't familiar with 'supply and demand' (that isn't to say that I don't get making certain items harder to obtain, but to me, storage seems like something any normal person could obtain).

Andre2006 02-24-2009 08:47 PM

Well you can sure store your items in the hotel room, If they are gone the day after, im sure you can contact a GP or any other staff with log rights, to give you your items back, and have this person who stole/took your items, Jailed or even banned.

Era does inventory management via weight, so it's not a bad idea to have extra storage cost. No one but the 'elitists' should end up having that much inventory anyways.

edit: and yes, stop requesting all threads closed and Era mods, stop closing all threads that are 'resolved'. Resolved != closed thread, dammit!

Did anyone ever fix the fact that you can buy unlimited time for your lockers? I think I brought that up a while ago.

Some lockers had ~1 year of time on them last I checked, so nobody will ever have a chance to purchase them. There should be a maximum, and it should be relatively small.

Frankie 02-24-2009 09:20 PM

I have an idea that might be a lot better than the current locker system.

Get rid of the locker buildings. Instead, all storage should be done through the bank. You can buy a safety deposit box for a weekly fee along with a few extra slots that increase the fee. Multiple banks can be placed around the map this way it'll be easier to access from different spots rather than always having to go to the same one.

If you don't pay the weekly fee, you won't be able to access your deposit box until you pay up. This will be a lot safer because with the current system, if your locker runs out of time with your items in it, anyone can buy the locker and steal your items. This will also prevent locker scams, the ones where people claim a rare weapon or item of some sort is in their locker and they charge you an insanely high fee.

The banking system can also be reworked a bit to be neater and more clean looking. Have actual dialog with the bank tellers instead of an ugly black box.

Talking with the bank teller, he/she will say "How can I help you?" in which you can choose from a few options. Open a bank account, close a bank account, open a safety deposit box, close a safety deposit box. Possibly a new option "Direct Deposit" that allows the money you make from jobs instantly go to your bank account instead of your player. Just another idea I thought of.

Good idea.

I like Frankies idea a lot. Something that sucks atm is that you can basically buy as many lockers and buy as much time you want.

Packers5656 has like 7 lockers at SR x.x

Heh, the code is still in place "preventing" people from purchasing more than one locker, but it's obviously not working, and I don't have permission or rights to fix it. Plus we would have remove lockers from people.

And, it still doesn't solve the root problem, which is not enough lockers.

DarkRenji 02-25-2009 01:56 AM

Theres enough lockers, let him go spend 9k to buy one.

Elizabeth 02-25-2009 02:24 AM

mm, it'd be convenient if room 20 had a locker.

CharlieM 02-25-2009 02:54 AM

How about just add 1 more locker area in or something, or implement Frankies idea.

Still wouldn't solve the problem. People would rush there, buy all the lockers for $75, then sell them for however much.

Like I said, this doesn't solve the root of the problem. We need some solution that is scalable, meaning that if Era suddenly gained another 500 players, 50 new locker rooms wouldn't have to be built.

Y read your post. I quoted his, and cut out the part about your idea ;)

Your idea is okay I suppose, but it seems virtually the same as lockers except they can be accessed anywhere there's an ATM, end there is shortage of storage for all players.

Uh..wasn't his idea that anyone could buy a deposit box at the bank (as in there's not a set amount)?...and if you don't pay for it, you can't access it anymore until you do.

Sounds 100x better than the current locker system to me.

Shotoo2 02-25-2009 07:03 AM

If everyone had tons of storage, why would people buy houses? :(

You underestimate player's need to buy stuff just to show it off and customize. Cosmetics are huge in online gaming, regardless of actual usefulness.

Andre2006 02-25-2009 04:10 PM

well about the lockers, a player is only able to buy 1 and one only, but if you log on another account and buy another free locker, then you sell it for a 100$ you can buy it with your regular account, that way you have two lockers, and you can now start collecting lockers.

That's the point. It's supposed to be similar to the locker system except it will help the shortage of lockers without having to stick locker buildings around Era. It makes more sense to instead place multiple banks around Era and have players access their personal safety deposit box from each one. You also won't be able to access it through an ATM, not sure why you would think that.

Anyone will be able to open their own safety deposit box through the bank. No "only certain people can have one."

I hate to compare, but think of WoW or Runescape. You don't pay for the storage, but any player on the game can walk to the bank and have a bank account where they can store items. It's not limited, and in no way can anyone else access it but you. In this case, it will be the same thing only you're paying for it weekly and if you don't pay you won't have access to your items until you do.

Houses were never really meant for storage. If they were, they shouldn't be. Too many problems are caused when people store items in their house.

If you limit the amount of items the storage boxes can store, and charge more for more storage, people will still buy houses to store as much as they want (and show off).
