what happends to servers that rip?
 

what happends to servers that rip, and i don't mean any accidental rip or anything but a fully flegded aware rip, because there are alot of accidental rips on playworlds i notice and they are all solved, but some time ago, someone stole some of my gfxes, and used them for his GAT app on a server, they accepted him and used the weapons, but when i found out, he was fired and they promised to remove the gfxes, now i checked their server, and the weapon is still there, the server's name is Portland, and its the starting weapon AK47 that they stole. Not only that but they used the wrong sprite for the downview -.-/

So im wondering, what can be done about such ripping, and will there be any consequenses for a server?

I think its asked to remove it by them, then forcefully removed.

The best way for the PWA to be able to handle it efficiently is if you put in a support ticket and include images and names of the graphics you made (if you still have them). For the most part, servers will remove them if we ask, but when they are unsure of which things are stolen or insist they are original. It gives us something to prove they are wrong. Make sure you let us know which server they are on and what server you made them for originally.

The alternative of course is for you to give them permission for use but that doesn't happen very often :D

If they're not currently being used, I don't see why people don't just give permission...all it would do is lead to improvement. Instead, most people have the "it's mine and no one else's!" attitude z.z

Nothing wrong with seeing what you made put to use. The problem is how many people seem to go about acquiring graphics they didn't make. In short, a current lack of players is not justification for theft.

the problem is, in my case it is in use for another server, or going to be.
It was specifically made for another server, otherwise i wouldn't have had any problems with it either.

if someone came to me and asked me to use my graphics on their server before stealing, uploading and using it, I might be a lot more lenient on letting them use it.

if I log on a server and see my graphics uploaded without permission, I don't see why I should give them the permission to use it since they clearly didn't show to respect towards me to ask me before they took it. instead I would rather have my work forcefully removed from the server in spite of that.

I used to get all mad about my gfx's being on different servers, but theres more reasons than just people stealing them.

-You upload something to a server, it becomes that servers, the server owner much later just gives stuff out, artists don't relize that bridge may be there and point to the others "Hey thats mine".

Those fiends will be brought to justice!!!

A lot of the time, the person using it didn't know it was stolen by the staff member who uploaded it.

If it's being used elsewhere though I totally understand why you wouldn't want them using it too.

There is also the issue of naming. Oftentimes they see things in the Graal folder and think its a global image because there is nothing to identify its origin. If all servers followed the actual suggestion of adding their servername or account/community name in the image name then it would also help. That won't stop those that intend to steal by just renaming but it sure will make them look guilty since its obvious it belonged to someone else. If you wanted to make the content public you could name it something like global_imagenamehere.png
