Un-"cs"

In the past we had an actually feature called "CS", it was a gun game that you could access and play on your own time.. No ETs required, etc. You purchased guns, you wrecked each other. It included gangs and stuff, too.

It WAS before my time, so I don't know which inspired which -- Between UN and Era.

However, Joe was expanding upon it and bringing it back before he went a little inactive do to University work and time schedule restrictions because he's in Europe and most the rest of the staff are in North America. ANYWAY!

I'm going to be expanding upon it and focusing on it if I can get enough support. (I don't want to do it if people aren't going to like it, you know? I don't want to waste the staff power and time to something that people won't like).

A rough draft to some additions/reformations we have:

CS Staff
These guys would be the basic moderators of this place to make sure all the heat and beef you got with one another is settled with the bullets and the gats, not the words.. The opposite of what we believe in the real world.

Gangs
Gangs were a big thing in the original CS we had released, again, I don't know how popular it was then but we really want to appeal to a majority of the Graalians (And we all like different things)

-Special CS hats: Flat rims, bandanas, etc. They'd basically be the same hats, with a bunch of different colors. This would just be for kicks.
-No Damage to gang-mates: Sort of self explanatory.

Weekly Tournaments
Weekly tournaments could go on with special amounts of EP and a statue of some sort in the CS levels. We could then do a monthly tournament in general, or even a monthly tournament for the winners of the weekly tournaments for a special prizes.

Gun Releases
We'd release new guns under a couple different conditions. As you all may know, UN has a big problem with people hording EP and if a game had an economy-- UN's crashed.. The conditions:

-A certain mass number of EP is donated through the donation system. Like, after 1,000 EP is donated, we'd invest in releasing the new gun in the shop.

New levels
A couple new level scenarios that ETs could use for tournaments. It'd include a couple different setups we could rotate around throughout the month. That way you're not all stuck on the same boring level all the time.

I don't want to make it the FOCUS of the server, but if we're gonna do it I'm gonna do it right. Some feedback could be nice, I would prefer it if you guys weren't like "MAYNE U RIPPIN' OFF OF ERA MAYNE", because again, I don't know which inspired which. It's a feature on UN that I'm going to build upon if it has enough support.

I played it briefly with Elizabeth. Despite the fairly bad controls and shot accuracy, it was fun.

SwimChao 02-17-2009 02:36 AM

Do you think it'd be worth building upon it? Especially some of the above reforms I suggested.

kia345 02-17-2009 02:38 AM

Heavily built upon, but it needs some 'repairs'. It would be nothing but good for UN if you had several smaller "servers within the server" such as CS. It could operate under a separate "economy" using points earned in CS instead of EC to buy guns, but the donating EC to gauge updates is a nice idea.

SwimChao 02-17-2009 02:43 AM

I agree, separated concepts in UN would be a good thing-- I mean, that's what UN is about. Trash talk and doing whatever you want. I don't however want to make it the main focus of the server, but if we build upon it to the extent that it could be a fun thing to spend your time in.. I think we could benefit greatly.

We've thought about that as well, when Joe and I first worked on it when I was Serv. Admin, we were looking for any excuse to drain EP from the UN "Economy".

you wrecked me, too. yeah, i have to say that it is fun, excluding how hard it is to aim.

I think Joe's original idea to do it like this was a more broad way of firing, since Graal only really works in 4 frame movement. I think he was also trying to make it more original so it didn't seem sapped from Era.

I think the concept and additions are a good idea, but I just can't see people using it. It's always the same with public open-events, they just never get used.

That and the spar level would be all I do. Even with just Elizabeth, I found a fun. Of course, that's just one opinion from a brief run-through.

SwimChao 02-17-2009 04:08 AM

I think if a good few people of the community got involved, and we started doing tournaments and such not.. Like, if we really stuck to it, we could do just fine with it and make it a fun addition.

Sounds a little Aeon-ish to me ;o

SwimChao 02-17-2009 06:41 AM

The CS part?

Or the multi-linked-server-concepts thing?

If A, didn't know AEON had something like that.

If B, AEON is alot like UN, vice versa with a bunch of other servers on Graal.

A server having more than one thing to do? Aeon didn't invented that, and this sounds nothing like what Aeon did have.

WanDaMan 02-18-2009 12:05 AM

It'd be fun, just really hard to use if you're on a laptop. Is it possible to make it versatile between desktops and laptops?

SwimChao 02-18-2009 06:23 AM

Joe I think actually made a laptop savvy alternative. I haven't opened it up to really look at it yet, but once I find out I'll be sure to include how to play on a laptop.

If I recall, playing on a laptop is much similar to Era.

I played the event a few times with some of my friends, and I enjoyed it a lot. However, hardly anyone plays. If you make some tourneys for it it, maybe guild/individual, and advertise for them you might get a larger fan base. I noticed if you make anything a tournament on UN it would increase the playercount and encourage more people to try it out.

MiniOne 02-18-2009 08:30 AM

sounds like fun, does graal only have 4 frames of movement because on zone i believe you have 8 frames right?

We've already started that. It'll include a weekly activity in it and a larger monthly tournament with a bigger prize.

We're also thinking of making a leader board system where the player on the top of the leader board automatically gets a special gun or something. Meaning, only that player would have it for the period he's the leader.

SwimChao 02-25-2009 12:24 AM

CS has been officially released just a few steps north of the staff shack/in town center. It's taken the Auction House's old spot.

We've already done a tournament and given out special guns as prizes. We plan on continuing these events.

We also plan on programming a leader board. The person on top of the leader board will automatically get a special gun. (There will only be one in circulation, current leader will get it)
