so what's going on?

forums have been pretty dead regarding updates recently. just wondering what's going on with development, what's planned, progress, etc.

deathbarrier99 02-16-2009 10:53 PM

Bwahahahahahahaha.

cbk1994 02-16-2009 11:46 PM

The majority of our work is being done on the dev server. I don't want to give anything away without permission, though.

BlueMelon 02-17-2009 01:26 AM

Hotel isnt completely done either..

heh..

era staff have been doing the "we want it 2 b a surprise" routine for the longest time. there's no point in doing it. tell players what to expect this way the staff team knows what's good and what's not good. instead, they're going to add all this stuff that players don't know about and find out everyone hates it, resulting in a huge waste of time.

hypothetically of course. I'm not trying to say what you guys are doing is bad (don't even know what's going on on Era dev) but just saying that you should notify players what's going on this way there's the option of getting feedback.

DuBsTeRmAn 02-17-2009 01:28 PM

Also, If you tell us we can already decide.. Leave, or stay.. ;)

If era is going to be more stupid then this im gone ;o

BlueMelon 02-17-2009 09:24 PM

I really hope the levels dont turn out like core electronics and New rycle place and HUGE lc base...

Freudian_slip 02-17-2009 09:57 PM

I do agree, they should very well show the work thats being done. I think it's rather silly to keep it a secert. The more you show, the more people KNOW something is at least being done. You can see things are being done, but it doesn't mean **** unless they can see it.

Also, like Frankie says you have to show whats being done for judgement, though I think almost anything new is auto-hated at first and people learn to like it.

Here are Era's plans, enjoy!

Progress is being made. Trust me. Angel is back, what else would you expect?

If this is sarcasm you need some work.

papajchris 02-24-2009 03:21 AM

progress is actually being made, when angel showed me the new gmap it was nearly done or atleast filled in, and then the insides were being added. I also was told of some cool ideas that have been added now and that will be int he future. Im not sure what angel wants out there, but ill tell her the public wants info!

Nothing really significant being released recently on overworld. Like Chris said most of the work is being done on dev now and I must say it's looking pretty good. However, Im not ready to post any info regarding the progress yet.

Frankie 02-24-2009 04:09 AM

I was never doubting the progress that's being made. Angel already showed me the progress on the new overworld because she wanted my opinion. It's decent, but I would like to see effort being put on game play mechanics rather than visual.

DazJenova 02-24-2009 02:16 PM

Well we are planning to fix the player system/movement system/item system before we can open Dev to public and show players what we have been working on.

Myself/DH/Angel/Cain/Chris have all been working on Era Dev and we've done a huge ammount of work which really i'm excited to show players whats done. We can't just open Dev with the broken down systems we have now that's why Chris/Angel are rescripting the player system/movement system and item system which takes time to complete.

is anything new going to be introduced with this? it seems to me that the only change this is going to bring is neater code in NC rather than something the player will actually see.

I really don't know to be honest, would need to ask Chris/Angel to see why we can't use the old one. But you yourself know in the player class there's alot of **** not needed.

The current item system is not very secure...security is a good thing so they don't have spawners and duping going on again.

the problem never was spawners which duped items and ruined the economy, it was corrupt staff members who would dupe and distribute items to their friends, who then ruined the economy. Anytime any major spawning was done there was just a roll back, yet what staff members did went unnoticed and untreated.

Heh, there's so many items out right now that are left over from spawners and/or duping...I'd say at least 50%

BlueMelon 02-28-2009 10:06 PM

The drop system right now is ok tho. It solvved dupping. (I think)

Currently, there are so many dormant SR houses that it's hard to purchase a home without spending oodles and oodles of cash. Why don't we remove all previous access from dormant homes, and put them on the market?

If a person is inactive for a month they do that, or kimmy was atleast

I recently took a trip around SR, and I noticed 5+ houses that had owners whom I haven't seen in months (and I am usually on).

List:
TichielJuspian
Scoper
psyco_man
Chelsie_6
Sarah_the_evil_mage
Israfel_I

Hunterhunk, Vettefan, and MontyPython are fairly inactive, but they still log on from time to time. The rest are owned by Graal#'s, so I cannot tell if the users are active or not.

One house isn't accessible.
One house has a staff block in front of it.
One house is owned by Deophite.
One house is accessible, but nobody owns it.
One house reads "Icarus' house," but isn't accessible.

Sewer Houses:
aXEpk (inactive)
Spikedude (inactive)
demisis_p2p (inactive)
darius_p2p (inactive)
Demisis_1997 (owns two sewer houses, inactive)
Ace_Ciprioni (isn't he banned now?)
physco_man (inactive)
Kill (inactive)

I could be wrong, because I don't keep count of every player who has logged on within the past few months, but these are players whom I rarely see (if at all).

DarkRenji 03-02-2009 08:41 AM

Most of those inactive people come on atleast once a month tbh

Aldaris 03-02-2009 08:47 AM

Are they active players though, or do they just log on for a limited time?

CharlieM 03-02-2009 02:24 PM

You will never get Israfel_I to lose the house, and I remember seeing this Tuchial Juspian or whatever person online. Most of the people do log on though, its obvious you didn't actually feel like seeing who was actually on and wasn't when on your list only 2 people are marked as Playing. Perhaps more housing could be released but they are working on Era Dev right now, I think they have a LAT to continue working on Era though don't they?

Some of the people you listed are actually active such as Kill, Amber, Israfel_I, demisis_p2p, and spikedude. There could be a few more, but these are people I see usually. However, I don't think you could just remove someones house. When a player bought a house they bought it in the pretense of them knowing they couldn't lose the house. However, if a tax system is placed you can make it so whoever doesn't play the weekly tax or so loses there house.

I thought that they also removed bank accounts from people who no longer played, I could be misinformed, though...

An addition of a few houses would be a key addition.

salesman 03-02-2009 07:23 PM

Yea, and then let's take items off of their accounts and auction those too.

You can't take things from players who were under the impression that it was theirs to keep

If staff want to take houses from players who go inactive, they need to inform the player that there is a risk of losing it when they buy it...not after the fact.

Was that the same sequence that occurred for the bank accounts that were removed?

Players who lost there bank accounts are able to PM me or any of the staff member and retrieve the money they lost. All the ATM's were stored before they were deleted.
