Oh. It has been like this for quite a while now so I wasn't sure if anyone actually did notice. It's a pretty simple fix, but people seemed to be confused about their posts just disappearing at times.

Not sure if it's doable, but maybe a way to show someone their own deleted posts as being deleted, while others cannot see said post from said user? Stefan's a genius, he could figure that out...maybe.

Edit: Or maybe even like an infraction notice, but like a "Deleted Posts" notice where it shows in your User CP as "One (or more) of your posts have been deleted in the past 72 hours: List of posts from which thread, and an original copy."

Well, I have had a lot going on in my life. Please forgive my not being quite on top of things.

Stop being so defensive, it's not like he called you out like some of the other forums members would. He simply stated posts disappear sometimes and it confuses the users. It's nice to hear you have fixed that issue though. Hopefully we can move on to eventually only having the user who posted it see the delete notice and that's it. That would make a great addition to vB over-all. Maybe someone should post this suggestion at vB's official forums.

I wasn't being defensive. It was merely an explanation, and an apology for not doing it sooner.

mm, it's great when you're 100% convinced that you didn't post it in the first place, so you post it again, and get infractioned for it. then you send a pm and they don't reply.

better yet, you don't even know WHY it was deleted.

Deleting posts is stupid to begin with. Leaving them up with a notice that someone was banned for it would serve as an example and warning to others, and have a much better effect.

What annoys me more than getting a post of mine deleted is when I don't remember what I posted so don't know why it's deleted, incidentally there is nothing to stop me from posting the same thing again. Sometimes the delete reasons are not helpful ("No.").

exactly. moderators need to be more specific with their deletion reason, it's really unhelpful when the message is just "no."

Sure, just dont expect us to coddle you to the extent of copying the whole post into the deletion message. I can agree to be a little more specific. They will still be considered generic reasons, such as "Dont be rude", "spam", "insultive", etc....

If anyone wants to question it, they can use a forum PM

You could probably just give the number of the paragraph in the forum rules thread, for a minimum of drama with a maximum of precision, I guess.

it's also really annoying when there's a wall of deleted posts all with the exact same deletion message.. i got it the first time.

They were examples.

That is because, with the latest vBulletin update, we were given an easier way to delete a bunch of posts at once, putting a reason in the mass delete.

It isn't, but in certain circumstances, a rude message may be removed as being inappropriate in the specific thread.

in certain circumstances? every rude message is removed.. for that reason. being rude isn't against the rules, and atleast they're being relevant. a message could be both rude and completely helpful.

we're not complaining about the rules, we're complaining that our posts are being deleted for a rule that doesn't exist.

no, we want our posts to stop being deleted for stupid reasons and rules that don't exist. you two aren't here to parent us, you're here to keep the forums clean, and being rude isn't vulgar.

that was just stupid to say, because even if you wrote the book, would you honestly expect us to waste our time reading a 500 page book for an online forum, so that our posts and threads don't get deleted? i'm pretty sure that it's common knowledge on how to post. believe it or not, as i've stated this SO many times in SO many threads, we've read the forum rules.

You can put it in the rules all you want, but respect does not really work like that.
