Video Recording Problem (White Screen)

1 Attachment(s)
Hello,

I've searched the forums but could not find a way to fix this, most of the threads about this problem were unanswered it looks like. When i attempt to record video, i make sure i hit Alt+6 again to stop the recording, after i start it of course. My default video player is WMP. Every attempt to play my recordings results in watching a blank white screen for the time of my recording. I'm not too familiar with videos and video recordings, so i't not sure if i need a different codec or what.

Example of one of my recordings:

Try downloading the "all in one codec" pack by googling it.

No luck.

VLC will do you wonders. Google "VLC" and download it.

Was waiting for your post, you always seem to know how to solve the video-related things.

Downloaded, but still no good. It says the .AVI file is broken, and then prompts me to repair. I repaired it and nothing different. I'm running Windows Vista 64-bit, if that makes a difference. Sorry, i forget for a second that Vista has it's issues with certain things.x_x

Try saving it as a different video format, like wmv. Do that by changing your F3 Video Options.

Do you have the video compression libraries downloadable from the login server?

Matt 01-18-2009 01:41 AM

The libraries just download when i re-logged on, i tried wmv format, but no luck. Could this be a problem with the video bit rate within the F3 options?

Tigairius 01-18-2009 01:43 AM

It's not likely that bit rate is the problem. If they just downloaded when you relogged maybe you should try restarting your game client.

I've done that, twice already. hrm..

It happens with screenshots too. I remember Crono saying to change the view in your folders, I mean just go for exemple in your screenies from graal (alt+2 to take one) then go to the properties. All I remember is that it had something to do with "only show miniatures" or something. Try that, it worked for me, now I can perfectly take screenshots or record anything !

And what did you do after you went into properties....?

Crow 01-18-2009 07:28 PM

Vista? Try disabling the Aero, uhh, thing.

Matt 01-18-2009 07:51 PM

That's one of the first things i tried, no luck.

Try recording videos in OpenGL mode:
Create a link to your Graal.exe, then change the path settings and append "-opengl", without the quotes. Then start Graal using that link. Tadaa, OpenGL.

run Graal in compatibility mode for Windows XP SP2; that fixed for me, I'm running Vista Ultimate, btw.

Still no luck...this is odd.

Apparently my problem is very common, as a searched on google. "Microsoft MPEG-1 (50) Codec Missing" which is quite odd because my PC is only about a month old, and says i have that. I have no other media players installed which could could cause conflicts. I've searched for 3 days now for a solution, and no luck. Any ideas?

I have the problem taking screenshots in other games they just show up as black screens my pc is also less then a month old, so its most likely an OS problem, Im on Vistax64 btw
