Mine destructing boots

Visit this page, there some photos aswell.

http://maic.jmu.edu/JOURNAL/6.2/feat...irichladek.htm

It's always good to work on some graphics, but be sure already whats it's use later.

So my idea would be:

- Mine destructing boots if you step on them it doesnt do damage
- As for the futuristic it could be, emp boots to deactivate the mines from adistance already.
- Unit slowered by 50percent
- Gelat item, if thats the only way to have it on all classes.

Since zone does only allow to equip items into the hands, there could be some controller in the hands to equip, and the Boots only shown as graphic on the feet.

There is a few quite good at this, could someone work out these boots please, fitting for zone graphic, and maybe some sort of controller device?

Jesper 01-14-2009 02:53 PM

The idea is good.

But when it is a gelat item, trials leave the game I think.

Maybe you can get this item with a quest or something? You must do something to get it.

Gelat players would be too overpowered xD

Deas_Voice 01-14-2009 05:33 PM

i would say no thanks, because it would become an un-used item like the white flag, you have to use it on S&D, you can't pull out a gun in time before you getting killed.
also, ever heard of barrels?

nice idea tho.

Very unique thing, an overpowered unused gelat item.

why should it be a gelat item?

It needs to be selectable on all classes, else it wouldn't make mutch of a sense. And the last non gelat item for all classes, asides of temporary holiday items, was probaly introduced years ago.

We have already a minedetector for prox.
And for the bike mines I think we don't need them because it's gonna be to easy for avoid them.

we still need them because it's more used than proxis.

jurre24d 01-14-2009 10:41 PM

No, we don't need them.
The last month(s) i didnt see you online. So, I think you have to experience what going on , on zone!

Shadow5596321 01-15-2009 04:20 AM

Jurre. You shouldn't really be talking. You started in the middle of 08, and Deas has played longer than you. So therefore, he has more experience than you.

Ravenblade1979 01-15-2009 04:25 AM

while i love the idea you have to look at realism (if you want it). Shrapnel from the mine would still damage you a bit. You wouldn't totally be invincible. If that were the case then mines would become useless because everyone who could afford it would wear these boots all the time.

as you can see in some of the pictures in his link, the boots get quite damaged.
So you can for example buy boots and they will hold 2-3 mines of, and you would still get a bit damaged every mine.
and then you have to re-stock like grenades.

i think the boots should also slow you down, ALOT, because imagine you walking/running on gyms, or these huge metal explosion protecting boots.

it also is a pain that when you see mines lying near the bikes at your HQ, you don't know of your team or the enemy team dropped them, it would be handy to have boots, incase they're enemy's.

controller in the hands
Edit: Might also be the mine detector, attatched to the boots, so you should obviously not able to tank trough proxys as uaual speed, wieliding a gun.
At this point this whole thing is an idea, balancing and testing is out of my possibilities. Sure it needs adjustements here and there based on, how it turns out in the game.

:o
that's true!

Ravenblade1979 01-15-2009 06:08 PM

hmmm if the boots do take damage as well as you I can see this working. Like you said you need to restock. I think this would end up hitting the gelat store if it went through. They would make a killing off of this.

Slow mine boots. Well it would definatly give people a new way to lame thats for sure.

Example: boots are made and cut down speed.

Ok so i made it say to base 1 but there's like 3 people there. One is a mine layer and the other two lame. The fact that i have to put the mine boots on not only slows me down but makes me less maneuverable and hence an easy kill.

Now then you have people who spawn base lame as it is already. So with the mine boots being slow all they would need to do is have one or two players well stocked in mines and have them lay it so when you put your boots on to cross your slowed down and therefore a very very easy kill.

Essentially I like the idea but can see the downfall.

Might be, if I have a look uppon previous updates and addons. But it's all about the balance and adjustements, of an item before it gets a release.

That can only be done by testing and experimenting, impossible with talking and arguments. At this point I need to think about christmas trees, god knows why.

It is an tactical item, just like the mine detector. Your not to bound to use it a whole run as soon as you enter the map, and it wouldn't be automatically activated either. Like all items you chose to aktivate or to disable it, switching forth and back to other items.

I'm not talking about who is playing longer or got more experience <.<

I said: He don't know whats going on!
It was a long time ago that he was online. So ,maybe it's changed?

If there won't be any gfx, aswell as for testing purpose, that robot thing boots should work quite well too.

Ravenblade1979 01-16-2009 08:10 PM

ah true dennis..you wouldn't have them on all the time but when you do have them on you slow down and since most people like laming at the spawn bases your always gonna need them there and it makes you one hell of a target.

It is up to you to move slow-motion into a enhancedpulsar or run with regular speed on a prox. At least it gives a chance to evade the proxi death, on a non proxi unit.

This thing is used by army and support in real wars and critical territories, why? Cause it makes sense, if you ask me.

Dumdumdidi 01-17-2009 10:40 AM

Actually in the article the mines do go off but only you wont get damaged. Why not make it such that the mine still explodes but hit only those near you, so you still can kill people by purposely standing on the mine when he gets near.

Lol, a bit of a suicide bomber. :P
Just minus the suicide part.

pico57 01-17-2009 01:22 PM

Lol.Metals Shoes...are not a bad idea... but i prefer this weapon:http://www.uncompany.com/images/p90.jpg

Ravenblade1979 01-17-2009 05:02 PM

Play Era if you want to use a p90. Zone is futuristic. Although, we do have an SMG.

Ravenblade1979 01-17-2009 06:18 PM

well you could mod the p90 ya know.

Yes, Zone is "futuristic".
u know : exept plasma weapons...
most of weapons are actually existing...so a p90 would change nothing... XD
