Rants, event ideas, application and others

Today is going to be the day, that my gold membership on zone is running out. As mentioned in another thread, I decided already a while back not to upgrade again.

The reasons are as simple as unsatisfactorily, I've asked myself why I should pay today now, while the game isn't a task but more of a pain, just cause the game is hardly playable the way I want to play it, of course as trial today yet, while I didn't pay for the game back when it was loads of fun, but still not worth the money. Of course a trial phase is not meant to be a basis to play a game at it's full features, but it made me the decision rather simply.

To the main part of this topic:

I'm quite sure that there's still players on zone looking for a task as well as a enjoyable and well worked out game. If the offer still stands, I would like to keep the "showdown" going, maintained as events person with a reward for the winner. I'm not that sort of person, that enjoys a bunch of ittle bittle events, just cause they don't require any preparation, nonetheless time or even work, just to have something done. Since I don't enjoy these, I wouldn't go the route and have these going. In fact those sort of events could just be triggered automatically with some in game script, but in times where the jobs are rare...

I could set up a showdown once or twice a month, just the way I was trying it before, I've got to agree, it failed on the first try and lot's of time for preparing the event was more or less wasted, asides of the point to learn by failures, but that shouldn't stop another try.

There could be some adjustments here and there, and maybe two at each different time zones, supporting European and America, as well as a materially price, since those seem to be the only thing to keep people attracted for it, once a month gold aprippers for apripper event, gold appirces for apps event. I wouldn't need much of commands for these either, the routine is simple, but time consuming and a lot of work.
Something a lot seem to be scared about around here.

I wouldn't be active as player, cause of the reasons mentioned on top, but I would be spend the time to prepare and announce these and be there to have the events going of course. As first I declined straight away, cause I'm leaving anyways, but I forgot to take in mind, that this game once was a game that I've spend hours and hours on and had good times here, yes it actually was one of the games I did enjoy the most. So it wouldn't be the right way just to nod the head and turn for the door, rather than giving a bit back and who knows, maybe it does get one day back on the route.

Cause I've still had some items, bought a while ago but never could activate them, I've gambled some of in some sort of event, just cause I didn't want to have them wasted or giving them away for a less. Thanks to Nataxo who made it possible with commands, to lock a spar room, and limiting the weapons. The one to beat me got the price, after a good bunch of dead bodies, scooter123 won the assault pistols on the third try. I would have kept it going for two more items, but Nataxo had to go, being continued tomorrow if I'm still gold then.

Since everyone in that hour+/- did enjoy it quite well, and was begging to be the next one, while I was trying not to skip anyone waiting outside, as well as me having fun even when I gave away a gelat item I did pay for, and Nataxo freaking out with cheer-leading :p this was well worth it for everyone. It's some thing I've also could take in mind during my visits now and then.

One more thing for an event, I've wondered a long while now why it never happened, is having the whole server, as those who want to compete, having to fight one tough enemy, some admin seems to have a lot fun with uber health, why not have some admin fighting the whole bunch of people with equal health to the peoples competing. Of course this needs to be tested and worked out, to have a possible victory for both sides, incredible speed commands or alike wouldn't help to have it balanced. But disabling cakes and sniper, adjusting the health to a equal percent, possible map for it as if it's be deathmatch or guild wars etc. etc.
I'm sure the whole server would enjoy it (except the ones that tend to whine about each and everything) especially if there is something new, like having the "beast" wielding new weapons that are introduced soon but not released yet, that way there was feedback already before it gets into game and could need a possible adjust 2 days later. If no admin is willing to die a possibly death, I would offer myself to have this going with some adjusted character as another part of my visits. It wouldn't even need a reward of any sort, cause it's fun to work as a team.

Helpful side note:

This could also be automated with some nice scripted bot, shooting diagonal, switching weapons from close to long range or even bombs at a large stack of players. Of course its simple to have a uber bot, but a well balanced bot especially in this case would take up a lot of work in scripting. And in some other thread I could read, what kind of major project the Christmas tree in game was, with color changing boxes, guess yet there is already the work started for the Christmas tree next year, maybe with even flashing lights, so I understand that there won't be any time for things like that. Not to mention all the bugs that are around, even for years, but how long could zone survive without a Christmas tree?

Bahamutstetff seems to be a really good hoster when it comes to guild wars, sadly most of the times if not always, those event are the same guild versus the server. Maybe hes willing to host of, frequently and announced guild versus guild events for everyone? Taking registrations a few days and having two guilds fight each other three rounds with announced rules once a week.

There's many ideas around the forum, for messing with current maps, most of those ideas would destroy more in the balance than adding to it. But they could be used as events, for a hour or two.

Like this being an example:
http://forums.graalonline.com/forums...ad.php?t=83299

But I almost forgot, this would need scripting, and next christmas comes for sure, like whoops and the tree needs to be ready.

As for the forums, I was banned the past 7 days, for kinda the most incredible and unbelievable reason, I've ever heard. That going to keep me away from this forum as well, apart of the times when I would need it to host something.

So long,

Real

So long,

Real

He hired people for it, and he trust them they doing it well.
As long there are no problems he doesnt need to know.

There's more than enough problems.

As I am aware of, there are three persons, with the abilitys to fix bugs, remove unsuccessful updates aswell as useless adds, to free some space for new things, balanced and enjoyable updates.

Two of them kinda let know, that they don't care a inch. Read above.

And the third isn't even "hired" as paid off coworker.

RevolutionJS 01-05-2009 06:17 PM

I was talking about the events team.
ITs for Jesse only annying if an admin is going to do his job.

RealDDc 01-05-2009 07:12 PM

The part you quoted isn't related in any way to events or the events team.

That doesn't matter, he could have also say'd I dont care about whats going on with this game, and I would have postet this. Practically it means the same, doesn't have to do with events team at all, but with the mood about the game.

As much as I want to get into this conversation. I'm afraid it would just be deleted since people don't wanna hear the truth. :)

I am advising you guys not to speak about staff members, because it is not looked upon happily. I'm not going to delete the posts above mine, but if you have problems with a staff member you can always use the support center (The link is in my signature).

The forums are not the place to discuss problems with the staff members, and a support ticket is a better alternative, as Dan will see those each day and he can actually resolve issues. This will keep some staff members from being attacked.

I didn't think to post this at first, but if you have a problem with the manager and administrators, you can also make support tickets about them. Your descriptions are so vague it is incredibly difficult to make heads over tails about who specifically you are speaking about.

RealDDc 01-07-2009 05:22 AM

I dont have a problem with anyone, as long as they don't have a problem with what I have to tell them.

Anyways, this is probably too mutch text for 99percent of this community. :asleep:

You really don't want to know what I thought of it. I will tell you though. I found it a waste of my time and anyone who's actually read it. Read Supernanny's post and follow what he says. No need to bash staff on the main forums. Dan can handle it quite easily and so can Stefan if you send in a support ticket.

Lots of people have a problem with staff on most servers but you don't see them complain about it openly like you have.

If you have events suggestions please talk to Jesse about them. I am sure he would be more then glad to discuss with you the mechanics of it and test it out on debug to see if its good to host or not.

The main part of this post is suggestions, that are well tought and tested. Jesse offered me a staff position, and actually the forum should be the place to discuss new ideas, but aswell pointing out the things that are going wrong.
I don't see a problem, with quoting a staff person on the forums.

Why should I send in a support ticket, if I want to reach the whole with a post. I don't want to talk with neither of them both you mentioned, that would be how you say it "a waste of my time".

I can agree on the suggestions part but usually when people start complaining on here flame wars start. Its best to take it to pm's. Its not hard to forum pm stefan, dan or even jesse.

If you have a problem with the government of your country, you don't write the president a letter how the government fails, neither his secretary.

The only way goes trough the media, to reach as most persons as possible. If those informations are blocked, and the authors pursuit, then it's most likely a dictatorship.

And what a dictatorship leads to, should be present at everyones mind, at least at some certain age.

Nontheless, you'r not the one to tell me, what to write and what not.

Too true that can work. However, that method has killed people. I won't mention any but we know a few good historical ones.

I am quite sure that any of the higher staff would work with you on a new event idea if you had one. Thats the reasons for pm's. That way you can work on it and perfect it before you post it on here.

I am not putting it down. Sounds really good. Its just that your bound to get a "no" answer if you post here on the forums (i have seen that happen all too often).

Besides if your not going to have a gold account wouldn't it be prudent to bring your idea to the attention of one of the higher staff (Dan, Dante, stefan, jesse) and not on the forums where your likely to be both flamed and rejected.

I don't know just my point of view.

You really want to tell me, that someone who doesn't know more than how to log on and off the game, or yet another doesn't even know who are the persons that hold these events, going to perfect somehow any ideas. Don't make me fall of my chair laughing.

There is no need at all to be gold to host just alike any paying person does. If the condition for that, are the payment to the game, stated by the person asking me to help the events team, then I won't continue to bother about it.

This flaming you mention, are more less candles glowing barely in the dark. I don't bother it at all, and pooper20000 does a great job deleting the junk. I've not seen any rejecting yet from official side, and if it gets rejected, wayne.

Sending as many PMs as you want is quite necesary.

CharlieM 01-08-2009 02:35 PM

I find it funny that you quoted and cut out relevant things in ravenblades post. I am not flamming at all. There is Shoddy work by the mods in this section.

I find also a lot of things funny. Do you see this [>] arrow signs on each quote, if you click those it leads you to the whole post, thats the point of those.

I only quote, what I reply to.

Might be, but as FAQ.

There is quite a lot possibilitys to announce, call and result an event aswell as contacting other event persons without gold membership. Mass messages are rather one worse option, since many just turn these off to avoid reading spam.

If it ever was necesary, to talk with one person for longer, out of whatever reason, there would be still the option to warp.

Excellent point.

What you said about Dan and I knowing who the ET's are is true, but I trust Jesse to do a good job managing Zone Events and the Events Team. When he reads your post about the Event we can see what he thinks.

And by the way, Raven, Dennis is German so you should give him a pat on the back for being good at a foreign language rather than mocking him for it.
