Paint Splatters in Photoshop CS2?
 

I'm quite fond of this whole splattered look [as seen in my sig] and I usually do this all by hand using numerous brush sizes dotting randomly. Its a huge pain and takes forever and was wondering if theres quicker or prettier ways to achieve this. Google only rewarded me preset brushes but those lose the randomness.

I read that forum thread too and it told the guy how to do a different splatter, to download preset brushes, and to take photos of real life splatters o_o

Download a lot of preset brushes. Either that, or continue doing it by hand.

Yeah but are there easier ways to do it by hand?

Here's how I'd do it:

Step 1

Select 19px diameter paint brush.

Step 2

Click the "Toggle the Brushes palette" button, which I have circled in red here:

Step 3

Change "Size Jitter" to 100 percent under "Shape Dynamics", like so:

Step 4

Under "Scattering" change the "Scatter" setting to around 400 percent, like so:

After you've completed the above, select your colour and start drawing with it. I recommend you play around with the settings to get what's good for you.

Lol i think that takes longer. Scattering is more of luck and randomness, always takes a long time doing splatter effects with that.

It takes far less time than doing it completely manually.
