Bad...against forum rules... :o

Though, google for photoshop trial if you'd like to try that.

Try GIMP or Paint.net.

I don't, but I have a purchased version of Paint Shop Pro 9 :D

Think about the whole thing first. Why does Ultimate Paint suck for you? Don't you like the features? Can't you work with them? Photoshop won't get you better results because it costs a ****load of money. Keep that in mind.
If you know what's wrong with Ultimate Paint for you, look for a program which would suit your needs, or maybe ask for more help here. Though I agree with Ziro, you should give GIMP and Paint.net a try.

Do you think Photoshop will do you good if you cannot even operate Ultimate Paint?
And what do you want to "GFX"?

Really, you need nothing more than an array of colors, zoom, and the pencil tool (if you're intending on doing pixel art).

What you're trying to do is illegal, discretion is advised. =)

Use a trial version of CS3 or CS4 for a month or whatever see if it helps you, if it doesnt then try something else, you cant get it for free its illegal

Use Inkscape, bitmap graphics are for scrubs.
