Some opinions on the guns system

These are player opinions on the guns system. I've included every PM I got that related to my mass of "PM me your thoughts on the guns system." No bias whatsoever.

*Oni (Mon Dec 01 19:38:15 2008):
i see his plans
but like
do it all at once, wtf at this slow process sht
he jsut lost so many people alot of their hard earned money

and why make guns weaker if not taking speed away?
this only benefits ppl with high speed lvls

john rachels bf (Mon Dec 01 19:40:21 2008):
I think they shoulb be lower in prices and faster shooting

Crackwizar *Cookie* (PyroTech) (Mon Dec 01 19:40:43 2008):

NC (Mon Dec 01 19:38:25 2008):
I like the new thing. I prefer equality over the whole super gun thing. Besides, hopefully this will enforce more commerce due to the fact there aren't guns 100x better than others.

Pending, unknown (Architects LS) (Mon Dec 01 19:39:11 2008):
If it's done on all the uncommon guns then it should be fine.

..Mike.. (Mon Dec 01 19:43:45 2008):
to be honest ..hes mucked up alot of good guns...

all in all: 7 bad, 6 good, lots of indifference
Make what you will out of that..

Personally: I think we should have held off on changing guns until after the reset, when people who bought guns for a certain reason will no longer lose that reason.

salesman 12-02-2008 02:56 AM

Looks like the people who were against it only felt that way because they think they're losing out on money.

And they should be pissed if they got screwed, They saved up however much money, got the gun of there dreams... then it get screwed?

P.S what happened to guns lol?

P.S.S I thought you were not allowed to have 2 accounts on these forums

salesman 12-02-2008 03:03 AM

They are not getting screwed because all guns were changed, not just theirs. It's not that hard to understand. The guns that were previously better than all the rest are STILL BETTER...all guns in general are just less lame.

Very few of the people mentioned their gun's price, I think the main complaint is the fact that they bought the gun under the conditions in which they were obtained, but now those conditions are different. They have a right to be angry, that's like buying an expensive XM radio and then them saying "by the way, we're switching to shortwave with advertisements now." Or buying an expensive phone and the company saying "we've decided to make this phone incompatable with text messaging."

Except this time it's "by the way, we're trying to improve gameplay."

Before the changes, fighting required zero skill whatsoever, and if you didn't have a good gun, you rarely stood a chance. It's not right that some guns could create a wall of bullets that was impossible to dodge...atleast now players who cannot afford the good guns are able to stand up to those who can.

Spikedude 12-02-2008 03:15 AM

I just personally think it was a bad idea to change it before a reset. Everyone's entitled to their opinions, I don't have a strong one on this subject, I even think that the gun changes would have been a great idea after the reset.

salesman 12-02-2008 03:16 AM

Doing it before the reset allows us to test out how well it works. If it fails, atleast it won't cause any permanent damage, ya know?

Spikedude 12-02-2008 03:24 AM

The permanent damage, though I know you will debate this with me, is the fact that within the possible months between now and the reset, the fed up players will quit, and will most likely never have an incentive to come back. Both sides are slippery slopes to walk on, but buffing guns to even them out after the reset would probably cause less of a problem than nerfing guns before, in my opinion. Like I said though, it's all personal opinion, I'm not disagreeing with your logic.

Spikedude 12-02-2008 03:32 AM

Wasser. (Mon Dec 01 20:45:29 2008):
Okay here's my take.
FROM WASSER.

I love how the SPAS shotgun does 25 damage like the PBP, that's totally fair.

And that AP0 is great too. I can actually stand less of a chance against it. The same buff as the SPAS essentially.

And they should also have individual speed boosts for each gun. The more damage, the faster the speed.

The spaz was nerfed extremely freeze/sleep-wise, but was also given 25 dmg...there's only one so it's not a big deal imo.

This is the only difference in the AP0:
before: this.player_freezefire = {0.16,0.3}; //Freeze/Sleep
after: this.player_freezefire = {0.15,0.3}; //Freeze/Sleep

oplsno!

DKH89 12-02-2008 08:06 AM

Personally, I think people just need to stop crying about it.

All Meph has done has made gun less lame, basically making era a game made for having skills now.

People are acting like they were singled out in this, but it wasn't just your gun that was changed.

Also the prices of your guns shouldn't go down because all guns were changed not just that one, so it keeps its value. Not like any of you really should be charging over 5 million for any gun nyway.

Well, mephs doing a great job.

keep it up

Nataxo 12-02-2008 02:26 PM

LOL at cracks first pm xD

Personally I don't care as long as you don't touch AK47 :)

Freudian_slip 12-05-2008 08:33 AM

I agree that the speed levels need changed to effectively make this change complete, but other than that it was a needed change. I find it hilarous how people say things like "Now guns are all the same" when before they were all just fast with low freeze time. Anyway, it was neccesay to do this before the reset so all the guns could be properly balanced before it happens. What would you rather happen, guns being nerf/buffed after the reset when money will actually matter or before when it's all going away anyway? Seriously, think about the logic behind what some of you are saying.

After a while they'll forget guns were ever as lame as they were anyway. People already seem to forgot how nicely balanced they were. When we showed people the old stats of weapons they were so surprised by all the freeze that we actually decided to keep the freeze a little less jsut so people wouldn't freak out.

Anywho, quit your complaining and just wait for the reset.

I actually think Nerfing them is a bad idea.. Say your in a spar.. and you shoot the gun and your frozen there.. Wtf? That makes no sense. Why not just make players FASTER so that they can dodge bullets, And make it so EVERYONE has the same speed? Then it would be better. Or add something like a speed boost.(Sayd in previous Threads). Nerfing guns is a bad idea. I mean its no fun..

Frankie 12-05-2008 10:13 PM

I find it funny that some of the people bashing the new system were some of the same people that didn't want me as manager.

tsk tsk.

although I disagree with the way the guns were set up, at least something is getting done.

before people start throwing flames and insults at me about how "oh you're just bitter you didn't get manager" I can assure you I've moved on and that I'm just stating how I see things because I'm bored and have nothing better to do

Oh now it makes sense xD

salesman 12-05-2008 11:14 PM

Better to test them out now when long term damage isn't an issue, than to postpone it until the reset when things will really count.

So they are no fun because you cant shoot walls of bullets anymore and have to actually think other than holding or tapping d into huge walls? D:
Thats a pretty lame excuse.

But I agree, everyoen should be the same speed, minus the people who are carrying a lot of **** on them. Speed levels need to go and make everyone a speed around level 4 or so....just enough to dodge bullets effectively.

salesman 12-05-2008 11:38 PM

As for speed levels, I believe they will no longer exist, however, you can still go to the gym for temporary boosts.

The thing is. Why not make people a speed so that they can dodge walls of bullets? D; Simple as that. I dont mind the lame wall of bullets cus i know how to dodge them X_X

lol. Everyone would look as if they're wearing staff boots, and because the speed at which bullets travel remains the same, players would also be running faster than a speeding bullet.

BlueMelon 12-06-2008 10:38 PM

Yes and i can name some (ALOT) of people that are "faster then a speeding bullet"

Meph 12-07-2008 06:30 AM

I originally anticipated on waiting for the reset
But more plans keep being piled onto the table, it's
taking too long.

Expensive guns are still better than mainstream guns, they
just don't have as much of a marginal advantage as they did before.

Just because you spend alot on a gun doesn't mean that
you should be able to dominate-- Like Salesman said,
I'm more for improving gameplay than anything.

I haven't singled any gun out-- the only gun that I changed
drastically was the SMGPK, I've increased the freeze and
the fire rate.

The SMGPK is in the same class as the PPSH-- both are
previous gang guns that aren't for sale in shops any more,
both are probably equal in rarity.

There's no reason why the PPSH should be glorified and
the SMGPK shouldn't. Where the PPSH trades fire rate for
freeze, the SMGPK trades freeze for fire rate.

Oh, and yeah-- I agree, speed levels should be deleted.
And I've probably tread more than anybody on Era.

Zing!

What makes the diffrence is that PPSH has a nice little gani

xFuture 12-07-2008 11:49 AM

Why not just give all the weapons once the stats and never change it again..?

BlueMelon 12-07-2008 04:14 PM

The ppsh you can put it on your back :D
And how about the MT? That was a gang gun... Not in shops anymore... Worth about 50000m

Crono 12-07-2008 04:27 PM

I'd take an MT just for the looks. Set the damage to 0 I don't care.

Oh wow what a coincidence the whole Soul family told each other to buy all SMGPKs! Gee I'm sure that act was 100% legit. I mean just because there are a ton of them in circulation why not buff it CUZ ITS LIKE AN UZI LAWL

Aldaris 12-07-2008 11:37 PM

Why was the Famas buffed, than nerfed again?

You're really messing people up with the prices, and causing many to lose tons of money.

Taken from my conversation with Sam:

Why'd you buy all the SMGPKs?:
I bought the SMGPKs because I thought it was a cool gun
to represent Leute. I bought five of them and handed them
out to Leute members three weeks prior to getting Staff.

On a server where people want fast guns with low freeze, the
SMGPK didn't contend with the other guns; it had low fire rate
and high freeze by comparison, so they were easy for us to obtain.

They were perfect PKing guns for us though, because we don't
need low freeze/high fire rate to be effective; and they were rare
enough for us to keep them leute-exclusive.

Why did you buff the SMGPKs?
Since Leute started using them, the SMGPKs gained popularity; I've
been getting PMs asking to buff it for weeks. I didn't change it
because I was completely satisfied with it. Then I got a PM from some
random guy, asking "Why does the SMGPK suck and the PPSH rock?"

I stepped back for abit, because I never compared the two-- Then I thought
about it: Both are previous gang guns, not available at shops
anymore-- they're in the same class. They should be comparable.

In adjusting it though, I wanted to make it different from the PPSH-- I
didn't want to give it low freeze, but I didn't want to keep it at such a
disadvantage that I get more PMs asking to buff it; so I increased the fire
rate, and gave it a little more freeze to compensate.

Trust me, I didn't "buff" it to give myself an advantage-- we were completely
satisfied PKing with it before the "buff". This was just to give the gun more
value to the general public, and make it comparable to the PPSH.

I never buffed the Famas-- I'm not sure who did.
I logged on, and got complaints that it was lamer than a Sten; so I adjusted it.

DarkRenji 12-08-2008 05:59 PM

Mp5 and SMGPK are in the same class, is a nerf/buff in order

Due to the high volume of complaints about the SMGPK's fire rate, it's been decreased.

Funny you should say the Mp5-- SMGPK is kinda like it now.

Aldaris 12-08-2008 11:28 PM

I just think that people [staff] need to stop adjusting each gun to such an extent, causing many to lose profits that they worked hard to achieve.

Why? they're just going to get reseted. Might as well make the guns fair now so they can work on other stuff when it is reseted.

That's for when you reset the server. The average Era staff works hard at achieving nothing. You guys have done a great job at keeping the server intact thus far, which is why everybody complains about it. Keep up the good work though.
