Darkness
 

Just an idea I recently had, how about having some sort of a "night mode" like other servers have?
Or it could also just be an event that happens once in a while.

Just imagine Iricia almost completely engulfed in darkness, with just your own sight and certain weapons that produce light to guide your way.

Shooting certain weapons could produce light, plasma shots could also generate light, not to mention flame throwers.

We could have new items, such as flares, torches, and what not.

Good idea, but there are different times!

So i dont think it works good.

Would be hard to see bullets, but it would be cool to see lasers highlighted =D

About different times, just make an ingame clock so there's no problem o_O

Why would people want to be more restricted? I can understand darkness playing a role in certain levels such as "insides" (be it caves, abandoned bunkers, etc) but not the entire planet(s).

Because it can Be really Really annoying, If u already have a darksccreen or just dont like it.
Without the abbility to turn it off I hope to see it NEVER on Zone.

The whole point of it is just making gameplay a little more interesting, and as I said before, it could be made into an event that happens once in a while, not all the time.

Besides, I did quote the "Story" of Zone, and it does mention certain "darkness" which we have never seen.

Scared of the dark? Stay in the dropship.

I didn't list all the weapons for a reason, the list can keep going forever.

An episodic event would be neat, to push what little of a story the server has.

I think "dark shroud" was used as a metaphor. Either way Zone's story can be completely ignored.

It could be a metaphor, but it really depends on which way you look at it.

It isn't even a story, just an intro.

The idea sounds good enough to me, but I'd go with it being just an event thing. Or perhaps a new planet altogether, although that is pushing it in terms of the amount of time a new planet takes to make.

That's not what I said. You posted this thread so that people could lend suggestions to your idea, therefore they would be judging it. You would then reply to their suggestions, therefore judging their judgement.

Maybe this could be an option like the GK weather effects. It could be an option you can enable.

Well, I was mainly thinking of it as an event that could be hosted by ETs. It is meant to be a challenge, not a feature that can be turned on and off.

If you're going to have a planet in darkness, you can't have an option to disable it as the darkness is supposed to be a handicap. If you don't like the idea of playing in darkness, why play it?

It's different when it's a cosmetic effect or such, like a little snow or rain... but this is clearly meant to be a gameplay factor, not a cosmetic thing.

Sounds fun, at least as an Event planet..can maybe see about working it into later schedules. We're booked through January right now, though so it will be a little while.

Laser weapons only while engulfed in complete darkness.

okay say it went alpha dark switched off to DM dark then switched to iricia dark, and continuous rotation, people may add that not many planets are active so it'd be pointless well it wouldn't be if some guys like revolution don't want to play in the darkness then he'd have time to not be in it.
