hmmm doesn't this remind you of something :3

lolz

Nataxo 10-29-2008 11:47 PM

what? everything belongs to Stefan so he just decided to make the ganis for zone xD..

kia345 10-29-2008 11:50 PM

Gravity Hammer rip was bad enough, but the helicopter is just dirty.

pooper200000 10-29-2008 11:50 PM

Where is it from? I don't think I've ever seen it anywhere else.

kia345 10-29-2008 11:50 PM

It's Era's helicopter isn't it?

Frankie 10-30-2008 12:07 AM

it's era's helicopter recolored and from the looks of it, a little butchered (changed the shape a bit, not sure)

I merely posted it because I thought it was funny. not trying to bash zone staff.

jkool666 10-30-2008 12:10 AM

Really? I was completely unaware it was somewhere else in Graal. I play Era a bit too lol. I thought Sayian GFX'd it?

Frankie 10-30-2008 12:14 AM

uhm no.
from my knowledge, it was made by Jenn. which was a long time ago. unfortunately I have Graal installed but I'm sure there are a few people on these forums that could post the original copter GFX. it's been with Era for quite a few years

Nataxo 10-30-2008 12:17 AM

Lol I thought everyone knew about it xD

Here is the perspectiveless helicopter sirs.

But don't be surprised, Cyberjourers has stolen a variety of things; from a whole playerworld to a WHOLE open-sourced MMORPG

DustyPorViva 10-30-2008 01:04 AM

I don't understand why they'd take a graphic from a player-owned server like Era and recolor it when they pay a couple people to do graphics for them. Who knows, maybe Era gave them permission.

knightfire35 10-30-2008 01:38 AM

I did think it looked like Era's too.
Oh well, Era probably let them do it.

No, we didn't.

xXziroXx 10-30-2008 01:48 AM

I'd rather guess Sayian made his version out of Era's helicopter, and no one figured it out.

You have a really stupid idea of what "stolen" means, or "open-sourced" for that matter.

What is wrong with servers sharing content? I am really missing the point on this one.

Because it was done completely without our consent.

Who would one need to achieve a "consent" from?

Era's administration, which at this time consists of the two Server Admins, Salesman and I.

It didn't used to, and I believe they've had this for quite some time. For the sake of argument however, I wonder where you personally think Era's chain of command ends because you'll probably find it's not just at the local staff.

Of course it doesn't. The PWA is currently assuming the role of manager, but they've essentially given control of the server to the two of us for the time being.

CharlieM 10-30-2008 02:09 AM

ya know that little box you have to click on that says I accept when you make your account? I am guessing somewhere in there, there is a clause saying that uploaded content is theirs. It's just a guess though as I haven't read it in a long long time

So how do you know that permission was not granted?

They would have informed us if it had been.

Like I've said already, this helicopter has been on Zone Debug for quite some time and like most content it has been held back from release until now. If the argument here is the lack of originality in graphics style it is a very poor one as the lack of consistency in this game is an issue to begin with, so similar graphics for similar concepts is far from problematic. People (including Stefan) have been polite enough to ask for permission for graphics that have been made for my server, so again I don't really see the problem with servers that have different themes sharing content on Graal.

I'm going to be blunt and say I wish the Helicopter on Zone looked half as nice as yours does.

That changes the fact that they took an Era graphic without permission, edited it, and released it?

sharing is one thing. taking it is another.

so with your logic, if a private server owner goes to someone in higher chain of command, that they can get permission to use another server's content?

think of the message that's being sent to players after seeing that screenshot. I'm sure server owners are probably going to think that graphics from other server are just up for grabs.

How is that my logic at all?

How is this message coming across at all? Your thread might, but consistency in graphics in one single game hardly promotes stealing.

They should be, we have few enough decent graphics across the entire game anyway.

xXziroXx 10-30-2008 03:59 AM

Once again, proof of them just taking it is... what? From everything I've heard, Sayian made that helicopter. So it turns out that he made it based on Era's template, so what? It's a new graphic, made by a player, so stop pointing fingers.

maximus_asinus 10-30-2008 04:11 AM

Rufus sticking his nose into someone else's business, once again. When will you ever stop sucking up to the administration?

pooper200000 10-30-2008 04:20 AM

This thread has gone on long enough. If you have a problem with the images being on zone, forum PM Dan or Dante55555, or even forum PM Stefan about the issue.

If you still don't find satisfaction make a support ticket.

Unless Sayain or Stefan posts about the issue we can not be sure why there are certain similarities between the images. Until that time, this thread will be closed so as to avoid spam and flame wars.

Admins 11-08-2008 03:09 PM

This thread is weird.
First, we DID asked Era staff if we can re-use their helicopter, considering they were not using it themself back then.
Second, it has been changed quite a lot. The Era helicopter looks really too small and has a weird perspective, so I spent some time to change the shape, also recolored to match the bunker map, and added a texture. The gani is also completely new, includes a realistic shadow which changes depending on your distance from the ground, and supports transportation of other players. I don't think those two helicopters look close enough to call it a rip-off.
Third, this is not the first time we took something from Era. We have also the bullet impact effect. On the other side, Era got the Zone movement system and I've also spent a full month to help Era get back on track and help to redo all systems (two years ago).
