neither do they have that shape, but that doesn't stop this guy believe he's a squid. So lets all be quit because he will be very sad when he finds out he is in fact a trunk.

squids arent squarey, and theyre skinny!

Dithering is not recommended with subjects like this. Those types of things are usually slimy, or at least shiny and slick. Dithering completely kills that effect(at least if not done very well), and instead gives a rough texture. Instead focus on things like high contrast highlights instead of a very smooth ramp.
