Ehh cmon...
Arhhh I need some advice on this, I want to make it an Ice blade, but "light shading" (for pointy forms) isn't a great friend of mine :(
Any idea ? I also need some help with colors, someone already told me to turn with some purple tiles, really bright tho. Attachment 45995 |
Swords are probably one of my worst fields, might want to hope Elk or somebody helps you on this one. Here is my attempt at it
http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/3...alaeditjt1.gif It is probably worse than your attempt. But I might suggest you don't have a straight black outline for the sword, maybe add some touch-ups to the handle, something creative like icicles (i attempted them yes, its horrible :( ), and be sure to touch up that whole handle piece lastly. About all I can help ya with :\ |

But what I'm trying to do is not a straight blade like a paper piece, I'm really trying to do an ice blade, like cut blade, really sharp, with a middle line, dividing it in 2 parts, to make some sort of perspective with light ice effects ! This is really hard for me, it's my first attemp to a GFX made of ice and also for perspective, I'm always doing straight things, I need some change >_< I'm not trying to make it completely blue too, I'm trying a golden handle. |
I thought I'd try mixing it up, it's probably terrible, but I tried a new concept on the sword.

Is it for Graal?

Lmao you guys are the worst group of downers i've ever seen. The kid posted here in hopes of getting help, I dont think it was so he could hear your crits. If you're not going to help him than what's the point of posting? I'm pretty sure he's well aware on the size of the sword and obviously he wouldn't have made it so big if he didn't want it that way. Oh and by the way just in case you've failed to realize, Graal is a GAME.. I could make a planet for a weapon if i wanted to and just because you think its too big doesn't mean that it actually is.. ? :noob:
|
well I totally agree on this
but im not going to do only giant weapons i just wanted to improve on blades effects (lights, etc...) Nice work there Sage ! |
Well excuuuse me for believing that things should have proper proportions on the majority of RPG servers/games. I should probably also bring up the fact that 75% of both Maloria's and Zodiac's playerbase used to complain constantly on how ugly oversized weapons are, but it wouldn't matter since you'd find a way to ignore it.

Anyway, did you see how much persons play zodiac
I just realized that people love big stuff, they probably feel like having power when they got such a blade in their hands And I already said I WILL MAKE SMALLER STUFFS I'm just improving right now, and I want to learn ice drawing methods, because acutally there will be a totally frozen island on Silence, I really want to give it a nice look. Oh and did you see ? graal characters are also oversized ever seen someone being as tall as a tree ? or is it me but on pics1 we can see 4 directions sprites for walls ? is it me or Graal's perspective is TOTALLY ****ED ?! The shading on your blade was decent, but lacked an icy texture. Sage took care of that problem though. |
Quote:
Am I wrong or I made this thread so people can show me/help me with icy texture eeh? This is exactly what I asked for man x_x because im new to that kind of texture And I find its one of the hardest texture, a least for me :( |

And so the age old argument of realism in a game in which the back round perspective is totally askew to the perspective of the character goes on.
|
I hate it when a game is realistic :p
As for crono: http://www.warcraftmovies.com/pictures/35236.jpg |
elk do the sword, i want to see you do it
|
Wasn't Cloud's sword almost twice his size?

Ever seen FF Advent Children ? During the battle between Cloud and Sephirot, there is nothing realistic, just like when cloud divide a giant block of rock just in one hit Well, watch between 2:48-2:49 http://fr.youtube.com/watch?v=7npcpsZP6uw |
I don't mind when things are unrealistic, as long as it's CONSISTENT.

If there were that many people (according to your statistics) criticizing the out of proportioness then something would have been done by now.(and if there were people "complaining constantly" in Maloria, then none would be made in Zodiac) But it seems all of the staff I have worked with have not bothereding doing so(which there is barely any in Graal!) then it seems that the majority doesn't care. By the way, if you're still crusading about proportioning weapons, just drop it. It's been widely done in the entertainment media (also don't forget that they make impractical weapons seem practical!) and I don't want to waste my time giving examples. Really, it only matters if aiming for something realistic, -- and if it's not then there is no reason to complain because the outcome will just boost your unwarrented self-importance. |
Totally agree'd, games were made for fun, realistic stuff doesnt really count, at least the player have fun, he'll stay.
