Tropical Storm Fay

I'm not leaving, but because of the Tropical storm, it is possible that I may lose electricity at some point tomorrow into Wednesday.
Right now, it appears that the storm may reach level 1 hurricane, or at the very least, a strong tropical storm, but it looks like it will pass a ways to the right of my county, which would be good, and we may not have too many problems.
Anyone who knows hurricanes, knows that they are very unpredictable as far as their track.

So anyway, If I'm not here, you will know why....

That made me want to say a random use rubber/drunk driving joke, but I'll restrain myself.

Good luck though, Darlene. >_<

Aww....lol, that reminds me. I saw on the news where a young guy was kite surfing late yesterday in some moderately crazy winds, and he was being thrown around like a rag doll, and is now in critical condition in the hospital. No common sense at all.

You could send me one anyway, so I would always be prepared! lol

Actually, I already have a laptop, but it still relies on a router.

As for the storm, it looks like we will only get around 30 mile per hour winds here, but the storm might go back out over the water, after it crosses over Florida, then turn around and come back across Florida. That could be bad for us depending on where it exits, how strong it is, and how much it strengthens when over the water again. This storm has even strengthened some, and become more organized, when over land, which is odd, and is moving very, very slow.
So, by the weekend, we might have more problems from the storm here.

I've tried to use my iPhone on the forums, but it's too uncomfortably to type a longer text.

I'm glad this storm didn't end up turning into a disaster, as I'm moving from PA to FL four days from now.

Well, it might move out over the water, and turn around and head back across Florida again after gaining strength. This storm had 60 mile per hour winds when it hit land at about 4am, and now has 65 mile per hour winds after being on land all this time. It will move out on the water tomorrow, where it will probably stall for awhile, and strengthen into a hurricane before either heading up towards Georgia, or back across Florida. Strange storm.

Not sure if you're joking, but the Russians invaded the country of Georgia not the state.

It wasn't much of a storm. It passed just 10-15 miles to the east of me (right over Immokalee, Florida). At most, it was a big rainmaker. I received about a foot of rain x_x

Unpredlctable 08-20-2008 10:34 PM

Tell that to the thousands of people flooded out of their homes, and the ones hit by tornadoes. :(

It missed us, but is going to do a u turn, back over Florida, and might come back and bite us in the backside. Bye-bye big dead tree in the backyard that's only a few feet from my house. x_x

Now, why didn't I think of that?!?!

Bell 08-21-2008 12:00 AM

A few feet from is better than ON the house.

DustyPorViva 08-21-2008 12:03 AM

A dead tree a few feet from + hurricane/tropical storm/tornado = on

Fay is a wuss. I lived through Ivan. Fay can be dead baby carcasses and vinegar at Mach 5, and Ivan still beat it.

It is right now. My county is under a tropical storm watch, and a flood watch. Winds can reach 40-50 miles per hour in the next 24 hours.

First it went over the Florida keys
Then it went on land on the west coast, came out on the east coast, sat there for awhile, then started moving west across Florida again. This storm is a pain.

Elizabeth 08-22-2008 03:57 PM

well, it was stupid for the people who founded flordia to build a community there. they knew it was a hurricane plane but they figured theyd just build a large wall and everything will be peachy.
