Editor problems

My editor kind of went insane on me today, and I really don't know how to fix it... I've tried clearing my offline tiledefs and such and it's still being lame on me. Anyone got any ideas how to fix this?

*Ignore everything after the first 19 seconds, I forgot it was still recording ._.

What does the tileset look like?

Edit- Could also try deleting the FILENAMECACHE.txt.

DustyPorViva 08-09-2008 04:49 AM

Clear ALL files in the tiledefs folder. Then delete pics1.png from the tiles folder and do a search for pics1.png in your Graal folder. Delete any instances of it, then connect online to download a new version of it(UN, I guess), and then try it out.

[Edit:] I tried your guys' things and it's still messed up. Any other ideas?

Crono 08-09-2008 05:49 PM

Tried re-installing Level Editor?

gemini2 08-09-2008 10:26 PM

Yeah, and Graal...

*Sorry for taking so long to respond, i'm doing school stuff atm too

Crono 08-09-2008 10:36 PM

What does your tileset look like though?

gemini2 08-09-2008 10:37 PM

What do you mean? I'm just using pics1.
I've tried it with three tilesets, and none of them want to work correctly =/

Crono 08-09-2008 10:38 PM

Click "Select Tile" and print screen.

gemini2 08-09-2008 10:54 PM

Have you tried re-installing Graal to a new folder?

gemini2 08-09-2008 11:01 PM

[Edit:] Didn't work, any other ideas?

Crono1508 08-10-2008 01:55 AM

Vista? Who knows.

If you don't feel like anything is important in your Graal folder, I would just bomb the entire thing and re-installing it.

If all else fails, I couldn't give you a solution. :(

Crono 08-10-2008 01:56 AM

Wow, I honestly have no idea. Did it just suddenly happen one day or did you install anything prior?

gemini2 08-10-2008 02:44 AM

Nope, it just started happening after I downloaded that Kakariko Village thing Dusty uploaded to the other levels thread. I wanted to try it and then when i scrolled down my editor just exploded =[

Someone know teh answer out there?. I get this problem from time to time.

WanDaMan 08-17-2008 07:55 PM

Try adding 'removetiledefs;'; should fix it.

PrinceOfKenshin 08-18-2008 04:25 PM

After selecting "Select Tiles" try and make something and see if does the same thing. I notice you didn't post saying it does the same thing. So if it doesn't cause the problem then that means your tileobjects got messed up. If you still are having problems try deleting your tileobjects folder then reopen the editor and see if that helps

That was the first thing I tried, didn't work.

I just tried it, and it errored out on me because the files weren't there for editor to load. Caleb sent me the editor portion of his Graal folder. He's running on Vista as well and it works fine for him, but doesn't work with his things on my computar...

Crono 08-19-2008 12:46 AM

I honestly have no idea, specially when you installed Graal in a completely seperate folder. Did you also delete FILENAMECACHE and load the editor directly after by any chance?

gemini2 08-20-2008 02:50 AM

Err, no, should I try that then?

farte6 08-20-2008 06:14 AM

Hmmm this has happened to me before...something else was effecting my tiledefs....

I advise clearing all your tiledef text files for servers and what not or else just reinstall graal. Ummmm yea been a long time since I opened a editor.

DustyPorViva 08-20-2008 07:34 AM

If fixing your tiledefs didn't work(which you said you had done), then I have no clue what is wrong.

Any problem related to tiledefs is usually fixed by deleting them and restarting Graal. Of course, this is assuming you're not opening the same level with perhaps the same bad addtiledef in it. If deleting your tiledefs is not the problem, then it's nothing related to addtiledef. To be sure though, delete ALL the folders in your tiledefs folder, even online server tiledefs.

Darklux 08-20-2008 03:02 PM

Sometimes it helps to store all levels you plan to work on in the graal folder... The editor sometimes reacts in an odd way when they are stored outside of it.

gemini2 08-20-2008 10:42 PM

I completely deleted all the levels and everything I had on my computer and installed Graal into a different folder, including the editor. It's still being lame on me, it's probably just something to do with Vista. Thanks for the help guys :3

Try running it in compatibility mode?

Can't be solely down to Vista though, because it works perfectly fine for me.

gemini2 08-23-2008 01:15 AM

Yeah, I tried compatibiliy mode, and besides like Codein said, he doesn't have problems of this sort with it, and neither does Caleb... Maybe my editor just got tired of me using it

TESTRETIS 08-23-2008 04:01 AM

slight possibility that it could be affected by your registry..

gemini2 08-23-2008 10:07 PM

Lmao, I don't know which of these things fixed it, but I reinstalled it again and tried doing some of the things you guys told me, and it seems to be working again!

Thanks for the help guise <3

Crono 08-23-2008 10:17 PM

Good to hear.

No problem.

DustyPorViva 08-23-2008 10:21 PM
