Obviously, but are you saying that touch-screen Graal would not be awesome? You could move by tilting the phone.

Graal even lacks official manpower to run gk properly, and the forums are starving, in that light anything like an iPhone graal sounds zynical.

Yes, I agree - not cynical but frivolous. Why pour time into developing on the iPhone API when the developer(s) for Graal could instead be working on new content? This discussion actually sparked the idea for my thread.

I'm not x_x

I've NEVER said they should.

It would be a total waste of time. I said that it'd be ****ing awesome.

This isn't about what you have said - this is about a change in focus; from developing the system to developing content. I'm simply trying to direct us as community so that we can all discuss the benefits of change.

Robin 05-31-2008 08:14 PM

Guys

It's stefan's engine, he can do with it whatever he likes.

As for the servers, that's OUR responsibility. With the scripting engine and the total customisability, you can do with this game whatever you wish.

There is nothing stopping you Stephen from forgetting GK and making a new server.

There is nothing stopping anyone from making something completely different.

That may be your opinion, but I'm afraid that we're paying to develop and play here. We may develop, but we can not play to the standard once could. Voiding all of that - this is a small game and depends a lot of the customers it currently has.

It's fair to voice our opinions, regardless what you or any other of the few nincompoops think.

Yes, that's actually a topic in the thread that has been created.

GK seems to be a good example of how we, as a community, can no longer rely on the administration to not only help us - but to help itself. That's my main concern and reason for making the focus shift suggestion.

Robin 05-31-2008 09:30 PM

Stephen, constantly attempting to belittle me on these boards, RC, etc. and calling me a "nincompoop" here only further proves your childishness and inability to lead anything. That's why you aren't managing GK. Not because your lack of artistic vision, but because of your lack of maturity.

To be quite honest, you're kissing Stefan's ass so I don't really blame him. The engine and servers go hand in hand genius. Graal for iPhone, what a stupid idea.

Tolnaftate2004 05-31-2008 10:02 PM

Pretty sure iPhone graal is already here, so bickering about it does us a lot of good. As for the graal:// thing, you can use Camino and add the protocol handler yourself.

Yea, you're right - nincompoop is certainly fighting words. :p

Heh, this iGraal is actually really being developed? Rofl...

I hope not ...

Skyld 05-31-2008 11:28 PM

It is possible to add a URL handler by editing the Info.plist file of the Graal.app executable, although I had little luck this morning when I tried it. It would open the application but it would very quickly exit again, not sure why yet (I probably missed something).

Also in terms of the Graal client for iPhone, yes, it already exists. You also have to consider that it's not just for the purpose of Graal development; Cyberjoueurs have a game engine which they need to make appealing to other developers, and an excellent place to start is to bring it to as many platforms as possible.

They did the same for the GBA, PSP, and probably other consoles. I'm not sure what advantage they perceive from it but I haven't heard any results yet. This is why I think valuable content is the next step.

There is probably quite a lot you do not know. :)

That may very well be, but as far as I can see that only underlines the problem even more greatly. If they're so eager to sell their product why would they ditch their current customers? >_<

blazeingonix 06-01-2008 01:50 AM

graal for psp! right no im in mine

cbk1994 06-01-2008 01:53 AM

I can't believe they actually made a client for iPhone ... Through SDK or for jailbroken iPhones?

I wonder when they will release it. Hopefully as soon as the 2.0 software comes out.

JUNE 9????

That would actually get a lot of publicity if Graal was one of the first games available.

Chompy 06-01-2008 02:55 AM

wait, graal for iphone? >_>

Robin 06-01-2008 03:11 AM

Not sure if Stefan really wanted to scream the existence of it (the iPhone client) quite yet.

Honestly, yeah, I might be kissing his ass. But you should be too. He created a game that he's managed to get us all to pay for yearly, so I'd say yeah, he's done a good job so far.

You on the other hand Stephen, are nothing but a belligerent hostile individual, power hungry, and immature and don't think Stefan hasn't noticed mate.

The day you become manager of GK is the day I start kissing your ass too. But seriously, not going to happen in the foreseeable future.

Uh, maybe you guys could make a automator script or something to make that Graal:// stuff - once you get it figured out. You probably just need a parameter to run it windowed. That way other people could get it enabled without toiling.

Changed your tune somewhat?

Crow 06-01-2008 09:07 AM

Graal for Apple products not being Mac is generally not a good idea if you ask me. Apple stuff is overpriced, it's something I would never buy because I can get alot more for less money. Graal for handhelds would be better if you really want to port Graal to other "platforms" D:

On ds would be funny, but it only has 8 or 16 mb ram, and you cant add too much over special gamepaks. Iam on 32 mb, I bet thats never enough to get graal running.

The application must handle the url request (accept or deny), it's probably denying by default if the application doesn't do it.

Nice that you think that :)

No, it's not. It's priced what people will pay. Notice there is no lack of people buying iPhones. And, the new iPhones will drop in price most likely.
Quote:

I doubt it, but don't buy it. It's your own damn choice, but just know that you can't run Graal on whatever "a lot more" is.

The iPhone is a "handheld".
