Future Da Vinci
 

a recent drawing in A4 i made when i was bored at school with a
2b pencil and hb sometimes, as usuall...
its not finished and i want you to help me to find a good background for it,
i cant think of anything that would suit it ;_; some say that i should draw
the tower of pisa or the eifeltower...but i dont think they would look good on it...
also, i used no reference for this pic i just wanted to draw a face and then
i made an old man with those those tubes...it turned out like that
and i thought he resembles da vinci a bit so i named it "Future Da Vinci",
because of the tubes that is...and now i need a background that has
something futuristic but yet something renaissance-like, the scan lacks
alot of detail because the light of the scanner took it all away (thats why
i hate scanning pencil drawings), im gonna buy a new scanner next...
sidenote: im sorry for the ugly lips, i suck at them
but im open for any critique or suggestions

Well, some kind of futuristic looking version of a cathedral or something would be cool?

yea but im unsure what distance...and a big cathedral would take alot of space :s and alot of attention except ill make it light

Should maybe show him standing in the middle of it, and show half a altar and maybe a window with light shining in or something in the background?

I don't really see how the Tower Of Pisa or the Eiffel Tower would be appropriate for your piece, though I could be wrong. Personally I'd go for something with an Astronomy theme. With 'science' being the future, and 'astronomy' depicting something that has been around for centuries (past and future), with Da Vinci being the past, and technology being the future. I just think it would fit your piece more appropriately, though an old building with this modern figure would also work. Astronomy was a strong science in the renaissance, and Da Vinci was quite involved with science too, albeit not astronomy, but you get the point.

edit: THOUGH HE SEEMS UPSET/UNHAPPY SO PERHAPS FOCUS ON SCIENCE, AS THOUGH SCIENCE IS TAKING OVER RATHER THAN ART??

I think the background should be vines that look like the tubing on his head, I also like the futuristic idea.

Plainly though I think it would look better with no background and put it on some old looking paper.

Nice, i'd say not to go over the top with the background, incase it becomes cluttered, or takes the focus away from the main object.

You know on church windows they have like, lame shapes but the people themselves are really well done, maybe look at that stuff :D
