tank,

ok, i'm working on this tank, which might oneday be used in zone if it gets good enough and people want it. But i've heard that the perspective should be different, that it should be mor elike you see it from above. Only i don't know how to do this, any tips?

Elk 04-12-2008 08:19 PM

Can you show us a frontview of it aswell please

Horrified 04-12-2008 08:25 PM

It looks ugly IMO. Everything looks like it was made by someone else, the orange part of the tank looks alright alone, then the wheels don't look right...at all..on it, and there's some random sticking-out pixels here and there.

MrAnonymous_P2P 04-13-2008 02:38 AM

I have always found it quite challenging to do large vehicles, in fact I don't think I have ever finished one.

Keep working on this though, it needs work, alot of work, mainly on the shading.

Stephen 04-13-2008 03:30 AM

That's pretty awful. The coloring is entirely different from Zones, and the shading is gag.

Tigairius 04-13-2008 03:59 AM

Generally tank tracks are more rectangular than oval. The oval tank tracks don't really make any sense to me to be honest.

yh i know i was actuaally going for something like this

Even so, they're not oval.

Kirble 04-13-2008 06:25 PM

Might I say:

EW, GRADIENT

Pimmeh 04-13-2008 06:38 PM

Now comeon, it doesnt look that bad!
I've seen WAY, and I mean WAY worse!
It looks quite cool, but not for Zone, or Graal for that matter

Kirble 04-13-2008 06:42 PM

You do have a point, but he should lose the gradient first, then re-work the shape. It's not "This piece of work makes me vomit" bad.

Yup.

The colors are weird, and the shading, frankly, it sucks.

It looks like you used gradients built-in to Photoshop or whatever you are using (I hope not Photoshop for pixel art).

You should only use the pencil tool, on rare occasions perhaps burn tool, only if you know what you're doing.

So basically, fix the colors. Make them more "Zone Style". Fix the shading, don't use gradients.

Also, add a texture. It looks perfect like it was polished and just came out of the factory.

The track also looks weird, perhaps too big?

ok just to get this clear,
yes ok i need to work on the shading,
but i feel insulted that you think i just used a gradient in photoshop.
I Pixeled everything in paint by hand.
Just to let you know.

DustyPorViva 04-14-2008 07:07 PM

Your shading shows no type of form or lighting... you just made one side dark and the other side light.

You should sit down with a pencil and paper and draw basic shapes like a ball, or apple and such. Learn how light interacts with objects.

ok thanks for the help, i will show something again when i have improved,

Incoherent light source.

DustyPorViva 04-15-2008 04:25 PM

It's about on the same level. Pillow shading and what you're doing both show lack of knowledge of lighting and form.

Eranian 04-17-2008 01:43 PM

at least he got the perspective right?

Liberated 04-17-2008 05:46 PM

thanks, i hope i did.
also, Anubis? do you remember me?
maybe you wil when i tell you my ingame name, thats Miniman.
