3D Terrain
I was messing around in Blender (an amazing program...definitely the best free program I've ever seen, and it's better than any other 3D program I've used, including 3DS Max and Maya) and I was trying to learn how to use Bump Mapping, and I turned out with this:
http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i2...inpreview4.png 256 Polygons for the entire object. Significantly less for what you see there. Oh the wonders of normal mapping. =P I've been trying to figure out just how to use texture brushes on objects so I can make grass texture on it without either having a really large image, a really stretched image, or an annoying, ugly repeating pattern....it's hard. :( |
Looks cool :)

"better than 3DS max & Maya" coming from a guy who's doing bump maps.
Think > Post. |

limited experience, but wtf...I respect you Stephen, but do you seriously just look intently for any excuse to be an *******? ._. Anyways, I used the wrong terminology, I actually used both bump mapping and displacement mapping, apparently...o.O |

You declared Blender - which, for free software, is VERY good and well developed - is just that... the best of the free software. If you need to be trained to use a program to the fullest extent it doesn't take from the quality of a program, it just requires certain qualities from the individual using it. You compared some of the best paying software to the best free software - and often enough there's a reason the pay software isn't free. Which is certainly the case here. |
How long did that take?
|
i wish i could do that

The wonders of normalmaps yes, but how big are the maps you have used?
If they are like 1024x1024 or more, it dosn't really help your low polycount. |

Anyways, I did something else real quick (using the same textures): http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i2.../spacerock.jpg I got the background image off NASA's site. |
LOL dude... you MADE the texture? You can have those automatically generated for you :P

Well, I did a little touch ups in PaintShopPro, but for the most part I did it myself. |

That modeling is certainly better than anything I would know how to do. Perhaps you should try making some kind of mod for Oblivion? :D
