FAQ Resignation

The past while, you haven't seem me much on Graal or on the forums. That's because I've been working on making a website with a bunch of information and guides on Graal Kingdoms. This site is intended to fulfill what I sought to accomplish through becoming FAQ, so there is little reason for me to continue being FAQ, and I instead wish to dedicate the time I'm on Graal to helping Zormite.

By the way, I haven't been able to come up with a name for the site yet, so people can suggest one if they want.

Way to be just a little bit to late to take the throne

I think you pretty seriously inflate the importance of kingdom leadership positions. What exactly is it that you think you or I could do as leader that we cannot do in our present positions?

CABAL49 01-22-2008 02:41 AM

Googi you are one of the coolest people I have ever met.

You could write rules.
Make it so Zormites are actually of the Zormite race again.
And make it so people have to follow basic IC/OOC standards while on tag, making a kingdom tag be something more sacred as it used to be- not just something people wear to look "cool" or to be part of a group, but rather use for roleplaying as was originally intended.

I don't know if you'd actually be interested in reviving these old roleplaying standards, but either way, you're probably the best person around who could/should run the kingdom. No offense to whoever is in charge now; I don't really know them, nor have anything against them.

Such a restriction would only have meaning if it were enforced by every kingdom, and I'm not really interested in having such a strong level of restriction as requiring IC/OOC standards the entire time a person is on-tag anyways. I am interested in reviving RPing, but the RP that's revived, if it ever is revived, would need to be a very different kind of RPing than the RPing of the past. RP elitists have associated a lot of things with RPing that really have nothing to do with RPing. In particular, most people who RP now, and perhaps even in the past, RP characters that are pretty much stuffed shirts, and there's a perception that if your character isn't like that too, then you're either not RPing properly or are engaging in some "lesser" form of RPing. It's perfectly legitimate to RP a character who storms Samurai castle and goes "Gokigenyou *****es". When people realize that I think they'll become interested in RPing again.

However, I'm not aiming to become Zormite leader at any time in the near future. For perhaps the first time a kingdom is being led by a "common Graalian" rather than an "elite" and I'm interested to see how that plays out.

I might come off as an RPing elitist, but I find nothing wrong with the given scenario, so long as "Gokigenyou *****es" makes sense in RPing. What I do have a problem with is people saying "lol DIE N00BS" in such a situation, or something like that. If it makes sense, then fine.

I'm a Pirate. If a Dustarian Knight sees fit to PK me in Bomboria because my kind disgusts him and deserves to be exterminated, fine. And even then, there should be some limit. If I run away from him, he should only follow me to a certain extent. If he's bent on getting the kill... well, that kinda sucks, but I'll work with that too. But when he comes and hunts me again at my respawn point, and wants to keep PKing me again, and again, and again... I do have a problem with that.

Basically, if it would make sense in a real life situation, it's fine by me.

But I have to say that I DO support the restriction you said you're not interested in. IMO, a kingdom tag is an RP tag. And an RP tag should be for the purpose of RPing. People might say if I want that hardcore RPing, to play Valikarlia, but I don't really think that should be the case. I'm not proposing the same level of RPing that Valikarlia has. I still think there should be regular PvP fighting, not some text-based, turn-based fighting.

How about...The Graal Kingdom's Library?

Tigairius 01-22-2008 08:59 AM

What ever happened to Björn's website, graal.logic-games.net ? It's still up.

I have a feeling Googi's would be a little more detailed. ;)

Darklux 01-22-2008 10:34 AM

Whats about someone hosting a wiki software any anyone who wants helps setting this up?
I could set one up I think, thats a far better idea than another largely incomplete website :)

In the past years we had several of these pages, I think its the best if anyone helps,
especially some players with old and rare items, that would not pop up in the lists otherwise.

Twinny 01-22-2008 11:50 AM

If it gets support from a few people, I'll be happy to host a GK wiki. Can even host Googi's if desired...or both ^^

Pimmeh 01-22-2008 12:00 PM

Yeah, I think the GK wiki should have been done about 4 years ago -_-.
We just need a start...

Why not call it a wink at a GK item?
"Scroll of Knowledge"
Or something
Subtitle: Requires Literacy

I don't think they would appreciate it being flooded with alot of small articles for each item and weapon haha

Not quite...a dedicated wiki for GK which is not constrained nearly as much as the Graal Bible. You couldn't exactly put an entire server guide in the Graal Bible as it doesn't fit it's purpose.

Darklux 01-22-2008 01:54 PM

Ill set it up later, okay? :)
Gotta take some lunch at first, tho

I first thought about hosting it @ this new graal hosting service, but mediawiki requires shell login, so I have to do it on my shell.

Darklux 01-23-2008 05:20 PM

I dropped my Blog to do this:
The adress is http://niki.gentoo-clan.org, maybe I will get a nice subdomain or domain later.

Its a wiki, I hope everyone interested can help making this as complete as possible.

The mainpage is protected to prevent spam, If anyone has Ideas to create a nice one, please contact me.

Furthermore: If you are interested on becoming mod, please contact me, everyone is welcome.

Pimmeh 01-23-2008 06:00 PM

Hurrah!
I'll start adding stuff :)

l'll do some work on the Crescent Pirates page if you want. I've learnt quite a bit of the history of CP over the years since I've asked a lot of questions.

Darklux 01-23-2008 09:16 PM

Just do it :) anyone is welcome, Ill only ban spammers.
Anyone can edit any pages, but I can restore old versions of people try to destroy articles so its fully save.

Have fun editing anyone!

Gothika 01-23-2008 09:19 PM

Thanks, I'll add bits in my spare time.
