Dagger and sword (WIP)

These graphics are WIP, Tell me how you like them so far.
Thanks!

Honestly, I don't see a dagger or a sword.

Stephen 12-17-2007 05:29 AM

I can see the dagger, but it's more of a meat cleaver - perspective is great, same with lighting.

His sword blows, which makes his great dagger suspicious. The dagger has a great perspective where his sword doesn't - his dagger has beautiful coloring and lighting where his sword doesn't. Different "tone" use as well.

It just looks like he ran it through Photoshop or something, but then again his style is kind of awkward.

MrAnonymous_P2P 12-17-2007 05:38 AM

I like the style all though it is kind of funny. If this was going with graal it would need custom bodies.

They need handles as well lol

Not really, Photoshop can't magically make dynamic perspective - like the perspective in his dagger. It also won't tell your brain which lighting would look best, allowing you to make the best "lighting decision".

You're right. It just looks weird to me. ;/

Ziro_of_the_Turks 12-17-2007 07:19 AM

I think those weapons look awesome.

Reminds me of Cloud's swords in the Final Fantasy 7: Advent Children

But I don't like it for Graal classic graphic-style.

It would have to be on a custom-looking server (ie GK) that fits well with the style.

Well... believe it or not the sword has the same blade or "sliver" kind of color to the dagger as well just not as thick, or in a sense not as sharpened. Anyways Its a WIP, and I will post an update in an hour or so... By the way, I tryed a different style of lighting. Not all of your graphics have to have the same exact lighting you know? Lets Say this is going to be like clouds sword and be over his shoulder...

DustyPorViva 12-17-2007 10:46 PM

Hmm, I actually see no perspective in either... both just look like swords on their flat side. The 'dagger' however, is positioned in a much more interesting angle.

Only pixel art is real art!

You're either incompetent or bull ****ting - either way, you look stupid. let me explain why - in one you have very dynamic perspective and lighting... both of which require a fair amount of skill to render correctly, which you have.

In the second one you show no skill, even in those things which people of skill typically do naturally (coloring, shading - perspective takes more effort). So, yea... explaint.

Please explain and define perspective for me. With all due respect, not trying to be wise or anything.

Google, "Define: Perspective" second entry:
the appearance of things relative to one another as determined by their distance from the viewer

Why can't you do that and save yourself looking stupid?

Well, I was curious to see what you thought it meant, is that really that bad?
I mean there are different definitions.

A definition is singular - how I define it on the other hand, but you didn't specify that.

Mine coincides with the one which I provided, I wasn't just being a smart ass.

It's pronounced Grawl, and the first is fine as a icon. And also, No.

It's pronounced 'grail'.

Also, I agree that the dagger is very nice, where as your sword is lacking a lot ..

Fantastic, if we were speaking of an English term - which we're not. Stefan has said several times that it's "Grawl".

zibou 12-20-2007 03:28 PM

lawl

i like it but it dont looks like a sword soz

Crow 12-20-2007 03:49 PM

I just pronounce it Graal..I cant really explain how it sounds like, but I just say that, lol.

zibou 12-20-2007 03:53 PM

lol crow

i agree with crow its same with me

Jeffyy 12-21-2007 12:10 AM

Kinda ironic due to the fact it is spelt Graal and in the American language the second a should make the first a long or in other words Grail.

Actually, I laughed at the thought of Stefan composing a midi to aid some kind of word pronunciation debate. I also laughed because I can't believe people give a f*** enough to bring this into two threads, but this one has been derailed enough.
